New York State's collection of tens of thousands of military artifacts and documents now has a newly renovated home.
The New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center reopened today after a four-month renovation project.
Ceremonies are being held to mark the reopening of the museum located in an old National Guard armory in Saratoga Springs. Military personnel, veterans and state officials are expected to attend the event.
The museum officially opened in October 2002. It was closed earlier this year for a $300,000 renovation project that included the installation of new exhibits, an air conditioning system, and other improvements.
The museum's collection includes artifacts dating back to the French and Indian War. The most recent addition is a flag that flew over Camp New York in Iraq. The flag is being presented today by members of the Army's 101st Airborne Division.
