![]() An American serviceman who has refused to serve in the war in Iraq was denied a bid for asylum in Canada Thursday. The Canadian refugee board ruled that 26-year-old Jeremy Hinzman would not face unfair persecution if he returned to the U.S. because he refused to fight in what he is calling an illegal war.
Hinzman is from Rapid City, South Dakota and has already served a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He left Fort Bragg, North Carolina in January after his unit was given orders to deploy to Iraq. Hinzman is part of the 82nd Airborne Division. Hinzman's attorney, Jeffry House, said his client was not giving up despite the decision. 'Obviously we are disappointed,' House said. 'We certainly are not giving up. We believe the decision is wrong, and we will appeal it.' House noted that Hinzman was not permitted to raise what he felt was the 'illegality' of the war in Iraq and its effect on Iraqi civilians. The board noted that the United States was a democracy and that Hinzman's punishment if he returned to the U.S., what he would face would be 'not excessive or disproportionately severe.' It is estimated that there are approximately 100 American armed service personnel in Canada who have refused to serve in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hinzman's case was the first to be heard by the refugee board. Brad Kurtzberg http://www.elitestv.com/pub/2005/Mar...35a94f13a.html

![]() I say take him and the other 100 or so, and drop them from 40,000 feet with out chutes! Who ever walks away can stay in the Land of the North forever.
Finally a sign that the Cannooks may have some back bone after all. But please keep these people, I don't want to see them back on U.S. soil!

![]() I recall that I was given a menu with choices as to which war I wanted to go to. Choices A through F were all Vietnam. So, I picked Vietnam. Hard choice, huh.
In terms of birds of a feather his Attorney, Jeffery House, was one of them funky dancing chickens that border jumped to the north during the VN war. Good pair to yoke up to pull the chicken-shit wagon I?d say. Or am I being non-PC/Judgmental? Got to watch those PC things ya know. And yes, by all means keep m' up yonner forever more and sucking on Ottowa's sugar teat. Hell, Ottowa is hiding some C$ 23 billion from the provinces but claiming poo folk and poo mouthing, ta dot ta da., so why not suckle some chicken hearts, eh. I'm sure the Fed. Liberals can find some bucks laying around for a good cause. Scamp

![]() Frankly, this decision by Canada surprised me but I`m glad to see it.Three cheers for the Canucks!I`ll bet the 100 or so other Americans(EX)hiding behind the maple leaf had their cheeks pucker a bit by this ruling.Do you think the Canadiens will round em up and ship em back, perhaps for an extended stay at Leavenworth?

![]() I was sent to VN with the 3rd brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division in FEB68. About 75% of us had already done at least one tour. I never heard of 1 trooper running to Canada, to Mommy, or anywhere else. Like myself, this guy ENLISTED in the U.S. Army and VOLUNTEERED to be a U.S. Paratrooper. Like myself, he didn't have to like being re-deployed; and as a soldier, he DEFINATELY has the right to bitch about it. But like myself and a few thousand other guys, it's his job and DUTY to go where ever the Army sees fit to send you. That's what he signed up to do, PERIOD.
This guy should be made to finish out his time in the service at Ft. Bragg, doing EVERY dirty job shit-detail there is. While doing so, he should have to wear his jumpwings upside-down and have a sign on his back saying "I refused to go to Iraq; another paratrooper was sent in my place." Stay on the ground where all chickenshit stays. See how long he lives.
