Thanks for the Signalman. That's what my Daddy was in the Pacific in WWII. How cool. The Atomic Bombs got my father out of going on to Japan. Thanks so much to Truman for having the guts to do what was right to save lives! Happy VJ Day to all our WWII Veterans. Job well done! Pack

The ship my uncle was on, the USS Horace A. Bass APD-124, left Okinawa on the 14th headed north towards Japan with 3d Fleet units and then the next day Japan surrendered. On the 27th his ship entered Tokyo Bay where they took part in the occupation of the Yokosuka Naval Base, and he was on the prize crew which took possession of the battleship Nagato. From the Nagato, on September 2, he witnessed Japans formal surrender when they signed it on the deck of the USS Missouri. A Sharp Hand Salute for all WW II vets

![]() Aug. 1945 Dad was on supply ship anchored off the island of Cavite in the Philippines. They were told that they would be re-supplying the first waves with ammo. Never cared much for Truman but I always thought that if he didn?t give the order Dad wouldn?t have made it home. Uncle Joe was in an Anti Aircraft unit with the 25th .
God bless them both, God save their souls. Be Well, Andy |
