Default Americans getting 'ripped off'!

Latest reports of oil company profits have just been released.

Let's take a look.

Today the British energy giant BP reported third quater profits up by 75%!

And tomorrow, analysts expect Exxon Mobil Corp. to show that it earned nearly $9 billion over the past three months -- the largest corporate quarterly profit ever.

Chevron predicts the company will hit about $4.3 billion for this year's third quarter, an increase of 74% !

But, the real example of corporate 'greed' in this shining portrayal of unregulated (or barely regulated) thievery and deception by these industry giants is ConocoPhillips, the nation's third-largest integrated oil and gas company, who said Wednesday its third-quarter profit surged 89 percent !

Hey Mr. Bush......................ever heard of a 'wind fall profits tax'?? I reckon not, huh? Sure don't wanta upset those in the 'base' of $$$$$$ donors to your campaign and former 'employers', right?

Default Gimpy...

Glad seeing we're finally on same page about something.

Still, surprised hearing you or any other staunch DNC types, echoing what Bill O'Reilly and other quite believable commentators (unfortunately few and quite different than most) have been trying to expose about such grand scale: "Public Rip-offs" by; "The Big Boys" and/or The Oil and Utilities Barrons,...FOR AT LEAST A MONTH.

Typical: "Supply & Demand" and now; "Not enough refineries" excuses,...ARE PURE BULL. The proof of such being PURE BULL, are that prices are going down every week from the $3+ per gallon, while no new refineries have come on line, and the demand hasn't decreased.

Guess that when the RIGHT PRICE wanted ($2.00 or $2.25 per gallon) is arrived at prices will stabilize, since then everyone will be happy? The Public Screwers will be happy, since a new and higher gallon price has been FIXED, give or take a penny or two.
We The Screwees will then also be happy, since no longer having to pay for $3+ per gallon gasoline and diesel, and being convinced again that we're somehow getting a bargain.
Yes,..."Ignorance IS bliss", even for those masterfully conned over and over and over by The Big Boys.

Regardless, and even though you and all other DNC types never have any solutions FOR ANYTHING other than blaiming and bashing Bush FOR EVERYTHING (past, present and future), I believe you're totally wrong doing so presently about Bush,...as most all other times. Hell,...even Clinton couldn't have been wrong or lied about EVERYTHING even though many might argue that point,...and quite rightfully so and especially about lying.

And besides, such grandscale: "Public Rip-offs" by: "The Big Boys" in collusion with (or permitted by) our Big Brother Government have gone on MANY times in the past,...and long before anyone ever even heard of G.W. Bush.

Plus, and even though now The Minority Party, there are also a lot of Democrats hanging around in Washington, DC with their fingers-up-their-butts (when not Bush Bashing),...just doing nothing other than enjoying another big show of: "We The (Schnooks)" getting perpetually and royally-screwed-over (greatly helped perpetrated by "Their" ineptness),...AS USUAL.

Yeah Gimpy,....sometimes even I agree with The DNC and would use their:"9/11" Hearing phrase also regarding price-fixings and price-gougings, in that: "There's enough blame to go around". Plus, for years both Parties have proven to be quite inept for We Americans.

For foreigners' problems both Parties are usually quite adequate, even though Democrats seem to give much more adequate representation for foreigners (here legally or otherwise).
Guess Dems don't really care just how they increase their staunch and reliable Voter Base?

Nope................we're really NOT Neil. And if past 'diatribes' according to you are of any sign of our being "on the same page". We probably NEVER will be!

You see, the 'difference' in YOU and ME is that I'm NOT putting the BLAME on GEE-W for this mess............only his RELUCTANCE to offer an adequate 'solution' to the 'problem'. I realize that BOTH political parties have contributed to this current situation, no doubt.

However, he has YET to come out with a call for mandatory 'price controls', or a 'wind-falls profit tax' which could go back to average american consumers in the form of a 'refund' derived ONLY from the taxes accumulated and gathered from the BIG oil companies profits.

He has the Whitehouse, the Senate AND the House of Representatives under his partys power. He, MORE THAN ANYONE IN RECENT AMERICAN HISTORY has the 'POWER" and the 'MEANS' to put this $hit to a grinding HALT!

Why can't YOU and your other Republican 'supporters' convince him (and YOUR MAJORITY PARTY) to do what is necessary and FIX THIS $HIT, HUH?

Just asking...................

Re. "Why can't you and other Republican 'supporters' convince...".

Awe-come-on, Gimpy.
You make it sound like there are only Republicans left in The United States Congress, and Democrats don't have any say so whatsoever regarding such a grandeos screwing-over of America as a whole? That's just not so.

The Democrat Minority has just as much muscle as it had before.
Such is proven most every day regarding our national pastime and/or trivia called: "Politics".
So then,...why not use such clout to also help-out: "We The (Schnooks)", the overwhelmingly vast majority, and/or the perpetually screwed-over by either Party,...for-a-change?

Don't believe people truly give-a-rats-ass which Party returns affordable transportation or affordable heating to them, and also stops their perpetually being ripped-off by Fellow Americans.

Neil

P.S. Not a Republican supporter by any stretch,...since believing that most politicians OF WHATEVER BENT and/or healthy non-productive Americans, suck.
I just find Republicans much more believable than any Leftists (both American and foreign), and therefore the much lesser of two evils. Plus, and since Republicans have only had some semblance of control for so few out of the last 60 or so years,...I must logically consider most national failures (and there have been MANY) due The Democrats. So, I tend giving Republicans the benefit of doubt. However lately getting more difficult destinguishing much difference between either bent,...except for which Party believes they and foreigners socialistically have more right TO MY/OUR MONEY. That alone to me, is sufficient enough to vote Republican. Not wealthy and bored, inately political or zealot.

Well as far as I can see it's not about Repubs and Demos, it's about our national slavery to oil. How can these companies do this and how dare they expose their piggish greed to us and laugh at us to our faces. How many of them are there and how many of us are there. Why don't we fight them at the pump? Because we are afraid! Like a narcotic that promises us just one more good time we have vested ourselves with a dangerous and politically controllable animal that will be hard to put down. It is much easier to succumb to the effects of the narcotic than to fight the death it brings. We must find a better way to wean ourselves from the teat of the oil industry than watching the price go higher and record profits being made. With great power comes great responsibility, may we use it wisely.
