Container ship in UK
The ship ran aground off the coast of England , The ship listed and some containers spilled off the ship. Overnight some of the containers washed ashore and people came and opened the container and took stuff inside.
The press and the UK coast guard are calling the people LOOTERS. I'm gona have to go along with the people on the shore on this. Unless they were trespassing on someones beach property theres nothing wrong with getting stuff washed up on the beach and reselling the stuff. i.e. sea shells. Hears a thought, Show the law being broke, or quite calling these people looters. And hears some advice for the shipping company, Don't run your ship aground. Ron |

I agree. Unless I'm mistaken, salvage rights means you get to keep whatever you find.

International laws apply in international waters, England laws apply to the shores of England, I don't have any idea what there laws are for stuff that washes up on shore, But I would guess that it's something close to 'Finders Keepers' Salvage rights apply if there is a claim and if your in the nations Territorial waters. The ship and it's cargo would be a salvage right thing, what washes up on shore in the US is like sea shells. England? |
