D-Day - Warfare Forum
On this day Patriot Files commences a new forum on the general or specific topic of warfare itself. I have been honored with the role of moderator which, like that of Standard Bearer, is a service having both brief life-expectancy and pivotal morale enhancement possibilities.
In this forum the concept, philosophy, justice, triumph, means, stories, conduct, tragedy, research and emotions of WAR in and of itself may be shared, asserted, championed, criticised, described, explained, illustrated, regretted, praised, ridiculed, documented and discussed by anyone and from any direction of history, preservation, education or display. It is the intent that this forum must cover ALL branches and units therein from any point of military history, excluding none (e.g. Merchant Marine) and favoring all who are patriots or veterans. Allow me to begin then with the following quotation; with your trust and my assurance that regular postings will continue to be made herewith similarly in whatever mode of conveyance our members might so desire, and that cease fires, truces, peace plans, orders of the day, close-calls, weapons free, plans to 86 combatants and halt fisticuffs will be closely monitored or encouraged as strategic, tactical and logistical battlefield conditions warrant: From Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809-1892) "Ring out a slowly dying cause, and ancient forms of party strife; Ring in the nobler modes of life, with sweeter manners, purer laws. Ring out the want, the care, the sin, the faithless coldness of the times; Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes, but ring the fuller minstrel in. Ring out false pride in place and blood, the civic slander and the spite; Ring in the love of truth and right, Ring in the common love of good. Ring out old shapes of foul disease; Ring out the narrowing lust of gold; Ring out the thousand wars of old, Ring in the thousand years of peace." And then we, warriors and they all who serve and love America and one another in our own ways shall opine on this constant disharmony of War, the bitter test to which all give some, and some give all... giving quarter when deserved, and asking none. Onward... |
