Arrow Navy League National Convention Downtown San Diego!

The 2004 Navy League of the United States National Convention

The Broadway Pier and San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina, June 9-13, 2004

We?re now counting weeks, not months, until the 2004 National Navy League of the United States, www.navyleague.org Convention comes to San Diego, June 9th -13th. We are well on our way to hosting an extraordinary event for both Convention attendees and the citizens of San Diego. We invite you to attend. You need not be a member to attend. If you do register and participate, you will find it near impossible resisting joining the Navy League.

The Convention program of activities has something for everyone. There will be committee meetings and panel discussions on aspects of the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine as well as a host of internal Navy League matters. The San Diego Union Tribune and other members of the local media will be providing more information on the various aspects of the Convention. Ditto this forum.

Terrific social and educational events include:

* The very special kick-off event ?Sea Power at the Broadway Pier? June 9th-10th, the first time that elements of all four sea services have been assembled at one location for a Navy League event or in San Diego. Ships of the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard, along with the oldest U.S. flagged Merchant Marine ship afloat, Star of India and a United States Marine Corps static display will be available for visits. On an adjacent pier will be the retired USS MIDWAY, the historic aircraft carrier; she has activities of her own and is open to the public.
* The Welcome Aboard Reception the evening of Wednesday, June 9th
* The San Diego Harbor Cruise Friday evening, June 11th
* The wonderful Dinner-Dance Saturday evening, June 12th
* The trips to museums, Tijuana and the Viejas Casino
* The tours to the Pt. Loma submarine base and elsewhere.

So plan to attend. For $30.00 you can register in advance or upon arrival and participate in a truly once in a lifetime experience. Beyond registration there are no fees to attend the multitude of meetings and workshops. Except for "Sea Power at the Broadway Pier" the events have fees associated with them.

CITIZENS IN SUPPORT OF THE SEA SERVICES

The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Navy League is unique among military-oriented associations in that it is a civilian organization dedicated to the education of our citizens, including our elected officials, and the support of the men and women of the sea services and their families. You need not have served in the military to be a member of the Navy League.

We welcome you to enjoy the 2004 Convention!
