Jenkins the Deserter
Is this really a good time to be pedantic? The Japanese in the street see this guy as a romantic hero (his story does put most romantic thriller fiction to shame) and they want to give him a home.
With our world image the way it is right now, I can't see how starting a diplomatic row with an already shaky ally is going to help anybody. I dunno. Obviously a statute of limitations on outright treason (assuming he wasn't brainwashed like his family says) isn't an option, but it just seems a bit small to be chasing down a long-forgotten sarge who's probably not long for this world anyway. Is it wrong to just pretend we don't notice him and let him live with himself and what he's done?
