I wonder what William Penn, the English Quaker who founded Pennsylvania on religious principles, would have to say about what just happened in his home digs?
It seems that an elementary school teacher was suspended for a year for violating a century (plus) old State mandate that forbid the wearing of any religious insignia, including Crucifixes, Stars of David, or any other medallions that even remotely pointed to a religious theme!? Even though no complaints were lodged and no mention of religion or the small cross was made by this well respected teacher, her boss threw her out for 365 days!
Of course, according to news sources, this archaic rule had never been enforced, and the courts even recanted (to a point) on the subject in 1999, or so it was said!? But lo and behold, but one teacher was singled out, apparently under the provisions of the ?Separation Of Church And State Mandate?, and as a punishment for wearing a 1? silver cross on a chain around her neck, this teacher was suspended for a full year!
?Now here, in my opinion, is where the ridiculous becomes the sublime!? The very same elementary school honcho (boss) who hander this teacher her walking papers, had in the past (on numerous occasions) asked this very same teacher to say a prayer for him!!
Even though the law is the law, and this ancient mandate had never been enforced in the century plus since it?s enactment, the word hypocrite definitely comes to mind here as concerns the leadership of this Pennsylvania Elementary School!
"But not to fret, as from what I heard, the matter is just now beginning to unfold!"
?Is this tiny silver cross really a religious matter, or merely a personal issue perhaps??
