Can you hear the caterwauling and screaming right there from your old easy chair?
First came Homeland Security, and now, the use of the "Regular Military Machine on U.S. Soil" as well is being tossed around by the Pentagon, and who in the Hell knows who else?
Is it a good idea to advocate using our military in such a fashion? Just as long, says I, as it does not expand to include United Nations Troops being stationed upon our sovereign soil!
Also, the use of the regular military is being touted as essential as a backup to National Guard Units and local law enforcement (Border Patrol included I suppose)? And hopefully, these anticipated emergencies will, not someday escalate into yet another Kent State, Watts and East LA, or a Gestapo-like presence on Main Street USA!?
But look at the bright side of this issue! Vicente Fox and his territorial ambitions (opinion) will be somewhat watered down (Maybe), illegal activity along the borders should be lessoned (again maybe), and the shortages of manpower that presently exist among border enforcement agencies, should instead, result in a glut!
Of course, if you expect the proverbial bleeding hearts and Senor Fox to be pleased - you had better think again! And El Presidente Fox had better damned well realize that this ain't Columbus, New Mexico, he ain't Pancho Villa, and it definitely ain't 1916!
