VN grid map reading
Now this is going from memory, so, it may not be 100% and it may not be how other units done or even the Army way, but as far as I car remember$%#@&^*
I took this map from Daves Gallery its just an example.
You will notice that the maps have numbers on top and sides and bottom, The bigger numbers are all we used the smaller ones are for a Map group number (I think) .
Anyway, Lets say you were given a grid of 47/34, pretty easy to find but now lets go off that grid, it gets a little harder, you are standing at an interserction and can go 4 different ways, there was no designation for right or up (and thats all we used) except that 70 was for right and 10 was for up followed by a number equal to in 10 meter (example 12 = 120 meters)
so with that in mind find where you would be on this map if I gave you a grid over the radio of 47 70 50 34 10 15
Oh yea, This just what I was told when the guy handed me the radio and a map and said "Your my RTO"
