Default I did a good deed today...

My mother has 6 brothers and sisters. When my grandparents died in the early '70s there was a squabble over what was left that lasted for many years. My mother had a lot of old pictures which I had saved with my other grandparents photos. Anyway, one of her brothers had tried to borrow a copy of an old photo from one of his sisters and she refused. So I found the photos and he came to my Mom's and made the copies. I found five old snapshots he had mailed home from Korea 53 years ago, and as it turned out those were the only pictures he had from there. I had no idea or would have given them to him long ago.....

Mortordude,

I know exactly how a death will tear a family apart. When one of my aunts died, she left everything to one of my cousins. At the reading of the will my Dad asked her if he could have a statue of the infant Jesus he got for his mother while in Rome during WWII. Not only did she refuse to give it to him, she threw it away! An uncle asked for a hinged frame that had pictures of his parents. Again she refused so, when no one was looking, he pocketed it. When she found out, she actually filed charges against him! There were several other such incidents but, needless to say, she cut the family cord with a vengance. Last year she contacted my sister and another cousin for some silly reason and they got together at a restaurant, my sister hoping to mend some fences. However, the years hadn't mellowed her out one bit. Some people are scorpions, some are frogs.
