![]() According to the media, the French, like some in Belgium, are clinging to Kofi Annon?s (UN) coat-tails, in an effort to wrest control over Iraq (and its oil) from the United States and the people of Iraq themselves!
Like the Russian involvement in Japan, right at the tail-end of World War II, the French too, now seek to prance in, raise their skirts, and gobble up the spoils (opinion)? Leading this ?I Told You So? scenario, was Kofi Annon, and although he did not at first, call the US by name - but rather as ?THAT STATE?, he chided our unilateral action against Iraq in GWII, as unfounded and failed (opinion)!? Of course it must be noted, that certain members of the United Nations ran out on their own mandate and obligations in Iraq! Annon further echoed the erroneous assumption that the UN, and in particular the Security Council, was the ?Real World Power?, and as such, should wield control over United States actions in defending it?s own interests! ?Maybe a few of those "Bonvivants At The United Nations" would like to station their troops in our major cities as well! (Like Hell They Will!!) Lastly, I take great exception at Kofi Annon referring to his cohorts as ?EXCELLENCIES", rergardless of it being but a hollow title! We eliminated such accolaides in America, many decades ago, and some of those at the UN are anything but excellent (opinion)!? And According to Webster - ?EXCELLENCE? denotes superiority, and in my opinion (again) the United Nations ain?t superior to the common road apple!! And calling some of the members of the UN superior, is akin to calling a skunk a perfumed mink, in my opinion! "The bottom line in Annon?s rhetoric was (opinion) a power grab!" One in which he urged the United Nations, under his control I assume, to bring us (USA) in line or to our knees! And by doing so, transform us into just another broken cog on the international square wheel of incompetence! "If you love the UN's activities, or feel them to be effective as they now stand, that is of course, your right. Just as it is mine, to think otherwise!!" In my opinion, the United Nations is a grandiose example of the old saying about ?Offering A Hand To An Ogre, Who Then Demands The Whole Arm" as his lunch! As a matter of fact, the gent that we put in charge in Iraq, Chalabi, is the same man who promised complete co-operation with his benefactors (Coalition), in putting Iraq back on its feet! Now he himself is attempting (opinion) to kick us in the groin, as his way of saying thanks! (Was this the whole idea from the start perhaps?) Finally, in our efforts thus far to get the ?Deadbeats of The United Nations? to shoulder their fair share of expense and boots on the ground in Iraq, we have been able to attain but $1.5 Billion of the $30 to $55 Billion that we requested and needed, leaving us (USA), as usual to foot the majority of the bill! ?And from whence will this money be extracted, pray tell? By abandoning more veterans programs per chance, cutting further into our own military, or maybe by enacting more taxes down the line? Of course, we could always extract it $$ from the voting, working poor, or the Middle Class again? As far as the international manpower needs in Iraq are concerned, the mood at the UN today, was still somehat negative (opinion), and this nose-thumbing was led, as usual, by a scant few pond-dwellers in French politics! (opinion) In my opinion, we definately need to re-examine our membership in the United Nations, an organization that considers us more vassal than peer! (another opinion) Well my dear Frenchmen (etc), ?I know not what course others may take, but as for me, you can bend over and smooch my butt, if you ask me real politely first!!? Lafayette has been dead for well over 160 years, and even He Himself fell as a social victim to France's arrogance after his return from our Revolutionary War! But a few in "Frogsylvania" still seek to gain all of the mileage that they can from his (Lafayette's) magnificent deeds of years past! Deeds, I might add, that were in France's own best interests as well as ours, considering the fact that the Brits were kicking their (France's) backsides all over Europe, as did the Germans years later in World War II!! "Was not our intervention, a return of Lafayette's favor to the New World?" Well, He (Lafayette) was one (great) gentleman, but if France attempts to bite into our asses again, as they did in GWII, they just might come up economically toothless! "Unless of course, political memories fade again? I also noted that the initial applause received by ?OUR? president at that ?Cathouse On The East River today (UN)? was anything but thunderous or even cordial (opinion)! Many in attendance were far too busy shooting the breeze with each other, our own people included, rather than paying attention to the President?s poignant words! Now that shows a complete lack of international class, if you ask me, but then class and the United Nations are about as oxymoronic as one can get!
