Water Wars In The Wild, Wild West!!

?Do California?s Farmers Waste Water? the government says they do!? And for the record, a gargantuan amount of the produce that finds its way to American tables, sprung from the soils of the ?Imperial and San Joaquin Valleys of the Golden State!?

But what the hell, if it isn?t the Feds sticking it to the ?Shaky-Side?, it is the State Government itself, as I have pointed out in past pieces! And in the event that you (personally) feel this fact to be out of your realm of concern, or a phenomenal case of who gives a damn, remember this - ?The whole nation just might end up picking up a whopping piece of the tab!??

So what?s up, and who is at fault for this potential (if you listen to the farmers) ?DUST BOWL? of sorts? ?Well, there is plenty of blame to go around (twice)!!? And of course, the people who will end up hurting ($$) that most, are those who reside, not in California alone, but indeed, from ?Sea To Shining Sea!?

It seems that the Federal Government is pissed-off at (what they claim to be) California Farmers wasting ?Colorado River Water Allotments (Guilty as charged in many cases I fear)!? However, in what is being referred to as ?an unprecedented decision?, the Feds are removing some 276,000-acre feet of H20 (Water) from the farm boys of the Imperial Valley of South-Eastern California alone!?

In all fairness to the Feds, however, this liquid gold (water) that they say is wasted annually, would supply enough of ?The Wet Stuff? to handle the needs of a whopping half million California families throughout the next year (at least)!!!! And should this ?Water Windfall? be cut off at the source (Colorado River), the government ?MIGHT? have to increase the (already) vast amounts of money $$$$ paid to certain farmers ?NOT TO GROW? certain produce, that the government claims to have a surplus of! ?A no lose scenario for some, perhaps??

But in any event, who will pay the final tab - not the Feds, not the farmers, and certainly not the ?California State Government?, I am sure!! That only leaves the taxpayers and the consumers, those that is, who can still afford to eat!?

Well at least ?The President Is Addressing A Domestic Issue? on this one, contrary to his critics, be it by cutting off part of the life-giving water to a state that he failed to carry in the last election (No accusations here of course)!

Hey, but not to worry - with unemployment now at 6.4 %, and several new wars just over the horizon (?), we just may not be able to afford food in any event!? (opinion)
