Comment: There aren’t words to express how heartbroken we are to learn that USS Indianapolis survivor Adolfo “Harpo” Celaya passed away on Thanksgiving. Harpo joined the Navy at the age of 17 and went aboard the ship in 1944. He was among the youngest crew members to survive the sinking, and went back to finish high school after the war ended. Harpo, you will be dearly missed, but you will never be forgotten. Edgar Harrell, the last surviving Marine of the USS Indianapolis sinking, died in May 2021 at the age of 96. PREVIOUS | USS Indianapolis: From 'Lucky Indy' to one of the worst naval disasters in history There are now only three surviving crew members from the USS Indianapolis tragedy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Personal note: What can one say to those of yesterday's happenings. Their passage reminds us that the inevitable comes to us all - and not necessarily during a war but with time itself. These brave men who went to sea and lost their ship and shipmates carried the torch for their Brother's lost at sea. With time passing he and other's like him will meet up with them with their passing. - Peace be with him and may he rest in peace with his brother's who will be looking forward to meeting him. We thank him for his service to our Country.
