TV - All Chatter, No Action
4-10-2023
(More Personal Opinions) What was once considered to be informative and entertaining is now almost dictatorial and even downright insulting! As a matter of fact, much of the tripe that is currently being pushed down our throats on the tube these days is actually quite redundant and mind-boggling! And what is being passed-off as entertainment, is in reality, nothing more than repetitive hog wash and incessant brain washing! (opinion) Once upon a time, decades ago, the contents of the tube were refreshing and novel! And, as a matter of fact, television was a new media that offered to entertain, without the need or the expense of traveling to the theater and incurring all of those snack bar calories, or the stale air that was sucked-in while seated amidst a gaggle of other bodies, many of whom were fugitives from a bar of soap or a tube of deodorant – and so it was! As a matter of fact, I vividly recall that there was even a disparity of choices, classes, and even accommodations within the multitude of theaters that haunted my hometown, back in the old north-eastern section of “The United States”, ranging all the way from the opulent to the seedy, and just about every point in between! And of course, I vividly remember the old neighborhood movie-house most of all, where for a mere half dollar, you could gain entry, suck down a box of stale popcorn and a half-carbonated soda-pop that tasted like it was a fugitive from “The American Civil War” and suffer through the almost unbearable and overpowering stench of unwashed humanity! Oh, how times have changed, “or have they really?” Yes indeed, those were truly – the Good Old Days! Hardcore

Day's Gone By - Sad Outlook
HC - you're absolutely right!
- Those days are long gone now. Times have changed dramatically and will more-so as time goes by. - The olden day's were good one's - for sure. I still recall many things we used to due back then. But most of us are gone now and those memories fade with each generation. - The simplicity of those days long past were some of the greatest days of my life. I recall from now and then those days long gone. - I'd like to never forget those days - those were our days - and we had plenty to do without our parents worrying about us. - The 1950's & mid-60's were great. Once Nam broke out life changed and the service was calling. Enlisting was fashionable for awhile - but the cost was terrible. You never forget those days - and some we re-live periodically! - Today life is what the government made of it. It seemed to open a whole new chapter whereas the US being the savoir of the world. - As an old man now I look back and reflect more-so of those days then looking forward which seems to have no ending - other than the great dirt-nap in the near future. - Both the wife and I are nearing our end of days. I can say honestly say now - that the future doesn't look too bright as we once entertained. - However - we did give it our best shot! You can't ask for more. But knowing what I know now - and could I go back - and foresee this future - I think I would do things a little different so as to be ready for what's to come! - I give us a 60/40% chance of still being united - the world is not fit for mankind to have a future the way we are going. In short - we could've done a lot better - but - so it seems to be written - and now we have to live on: In What's To Come. Sad isn't it! -
