History and Legacy - Viet Nam
History and Legacy
Re: https://www.vietnamwar50th.com/history_and_legacy/ Note: It's time like this that during our days then we on duty we reflect on the issues and the losses of Viet Nam. - Re: https://www.vietnamwar50th.com/cms/i...t-graphic5.png - I or We - were in that war. Also called a conflict - why God only knows! - Americans continue to grapple with the history of U.S. involvement in Vietnam. Each generation interprets and then reinterprets the war: its meaning, lessons, and how it should be remembered. This section of the website helps viewers recognize and reflect upon the U.S. veterans’ experience, without debating the rightness or wrongness of the war. Instead, the features here offer a more personal engagement with veterans’ stories and provide some historical foundation to better understand their experiences. While the History and Legacy Branch cannot include every detail or individual experience, it gives viewers a glimpse of the complexity of that historical era—the choices facing people who lived through it and how they understood and approached difficult situations. Additional suggested resources also encourage visitors to investigate and discuss these topics beyond what is provided here. Please listen to the veterans’ stories, and consider what they tell us about our experience of that war. Personal note: I catch myself recalling those days and those we lost - but not forgotten! "Less We Forget" - We tend to reflect on our waring days of service with our Bud's. - Like our Father's Waring Days - and - Then Our's - we carry the memories of those missions and those we lost. Waring isn't glamorous - it's dangerous and it takes you to another place of which you've never witnessed - but were taught to act in accordance to your training. The fallen - or wounded happened. Their act of bravery & sacrifice of his Bud's will happen - and even to you - which is natural - and forever difficult to forget - if ever! - I'll be 78 soon and on this day I still have flashbacks - and recall those men & women who I served with - and met - it just flashes into my head - and here I am posting about them - so as to let them know they are not forgotten. - March 29 is coming up for honors to our service men & women and on that day "Vietnam War Commemoration - honoring VN ServiceMen & Women is Valor Sacrifice day! - I will make my rounds like I do for all my GrandFather's - Father - Brother's - and my pals - that were lost. My Garage is covered with military items of interest - and my Flag flies 24/7 every year. I'm also a life member of VFW Post 6448 in Dyer, IN. If you're in the area drop in and I'll buy you a beer. - God Bless any and All of those we lost and those of us who carry their Memories & Sacrafice's. - Boats - VN 63-75
