Thumbs down No Canonization Here!

CANONIZE - ?To declare to be a saint...?

I don?t know what gives any politician, from either political party, the notion that with election to political position also comes an elevation to near sainthood? Hell, to listen to some political yard-birds, the whole race is fought over just getting elected to a position that sometimes pays but a fraction of what some self promoter and his special interest masters delve out to get there in the first place! And if you really believe that any special interest is going to spend a fortune without getting many times more back in return, then I have some swampland in the Sahara that might interest you. ?That is, if we are not at war with them too by that time??

Getting back to this election-sainthood thing, don?t these self-aggrandizers realize that getting their fool-selves elected to office is just the beginning? Once settled into power, it is then for the politico to produce upon his endless stream of promises, or at least that is how it was meant to be?! Unfortunately, however, far too many (if not most) elected to high public office (or trust if you prefer), think that once in, you have nothing more to do than sit back and collect graft, pander to special interest, rattle a saber or two, feather your own nest, and have all bow down before your self-perceived magnificence!

What in the hell ever happened to ?grave responsibility, honoring a public trust, the will of the majority - regardless of political party, or Constitutionality and fair play?? Or are these extinct icons of ages past, now nothing more than specters and grand illusions? I once even heard a politician say that - ?A man (or woman) is elected upon lies, serves under the auspices of lies, is re-elected upon lies, and is only deposed when some stupid bastard or social crusader attempts to interject a modicum of truth into the pushily polluted matrix!

If this is indeed true, then why not canonize the elected bonvivant! I mean what the Hell, if a pro football player can be idolized for a fantastic play, or an actor can be herofied for make believe roles, why not fall down and worship at the feet of those who made it to the top, swimming through a sea of pure, unadulterated bull droppings, or clawing into the backs and asses of those who really believe in the damned old fool to start with!

And after all is said and done, if one really wants results and not just political horse-hockey, a bordello or a barroom will get the job done faster and better than any loud-mouthed politician ever could! Hell, maybe the politico even owns an interest in the honky-tonk to begin with? There ain?t that big a difference, after all, between politics and a whorehouse when you come to think about it, except for the smell - ?a Cathouse smells better any day!!?

And as for truth, there is more of that illusive commodity to be found at the bottom of a cheap glass of booze that in a 55-gallon drum of polluted political rhetoric. ?EN VINO e SANGUE VERITAS!!?

?Rainbows and rose-colored glasses anyone??

VERITAS
