Suggested firing most all career politicos and hiring lobbyists instead, on some thread awhile back.

A great bonus also being that promises made that aren't kept, can be delt with quite swiftly (within days). Whereas, nowadays We Americans must wait 2-4-6 years to kick some self/clique-serving bum ABOVE OF ELSE & ALL OTHERS out. Plus, and given that duped followings of some such bums are so large in many cases,...such political bums could never be kicked-out any other way.

Also, and at least with: "Lobbyists", The Vast Majority would also be represented for a change. Besides,...isn't it about time that The Vast Majority ALSO BECAME: "A Special Interest"??? I think so.

It bugs me man, really bugs me... to hear the news most of the time you'd think that about 20,000 (more or less) residents of about 10 east and west coast cities run the whole damn nation... that's how it seems and I'm getting real sick of it. That's how come I have been going back and forth with Scout (good naturedly) and a couple of others about maybe "direct democracy" is what would work better in America, to get TIMELY action moving ahead instead of all this planned institutionalized moral starvation... shitTTTTTTTT!

I dunno, gotta DO something, do something, SOMEthing... props still turning... turning

Our currently perverted democracy aside,...what would be wrong with America instead having about 5-600 trustworthy lobbyists working out of an organization in Washington, like the NAATAP and/or National Association for the Advancement of The American People??? Couldn't do any worse than what's in Washington now.
Besides, has a nice ring to it. Well,...for me anyway.

P.S. Catch you later. Heading-out now for some fun and games now. Maybe even a little food too.

For later Recon -
Well, maybe there could be a way for that idea to work... at least theoretically lobbyists supposedly represent special interests, which, as you point out, THEM IS US! these days anyhow...

Yup, my Lady wants out to visit the local Oktoberfest-ivities going on today, prob'ly do the "Chicken Dance" too... our guys are mostly at church anyhow I guess, gotta get OFF this chair awhile myself...

Certainly understand your (no doubt MANY others also) frustration, since not much that can be done by the vast majority or those NOT somehow: "Connected" or brainwashed into believing that a lordly big brother and his political backers and/or institutions and press ALWAYS KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR ALL,...and must be obeyed explicitely, or go to jail. Damn,...even words etched in stone like: "ONE NATION UNDER GOD", "IN GOD WE TRUST", or even; "God, Honor, Country" and such mean little (if anything?) to many politicos and/or those lording themselves over us, directing us, or correcting us on a daily basis.

Hell, even the politically conjured-up and nonsensical phrase: "The Office makes the man(woman also)" rings more hollow than usual nowadays. Both recently and in the past,...the words: "The Clintons" and "The Kennedies" sort-of prove the phrase nonsensical, if not a flat-out-lie or purposefully put out misconception by their cliques. Though, and in fairness, bodies attributted to such don't seem very nonsensical to me.

So then, it's fair saying that I'm infinitely more impressed by the words: "IN GOD WE TRUST" on a half dollar coin,...than I could ever be impressed by the bust of ANY CAREER POLITICIAN (dead or alive) on same. Besides, and even though not a very religious sort,..."Thou shalt not worship false gods" always seemed like a pretty-damn-sensible request to me,...especially since so many politicos and affiliated here in America come-off so HOT-DAMN godly (naturally not when campaigning) with We Subjects.

You got THAT right Recon, by a long damn shot...

You should see the ration I am getting in the art business for defending, on purely aesthetic grounds, that ten commandments monument... as if that little bitty thing had threatened to bring DOWN (of all places) the moral and intellectual fibre of a nation.

Talk about: "Weirdsville USA" and the silliness of it all, and you touched on one of the silliest of all absurdities,...when bringing-up the foolishness displayed over The Ten Commandments in public buildings, and especially Courthouses.

Don't any of those fools out there realize that most all our laws (most other nations also - both criminal and civil) all emminate in large part from those very same Ten Commandments FOUND SO OBJECTIONABLE by fools. Hell, if such wasn't so,...what else would laws (both criminal and civil) be based on? Mao's little red book or "It Takes A Village"??

Besides, same fools in all likelihood would never find The Scales of Justice objectionable,...and the only relevence to laws by such is that: "Justice is blind". Still, I guess the fools alluded to would also like if: "Justice is blind" gets added to? Maybe if changed to: Justice is blind, preferential, stupid and hypocritical,...it might be deemed more appropriate? Well,...for The ACLU anyway.

I pretty much take the view of "What could possibly be the harm!" in cases such as that... I mean to say, for example, I would definitely scream bloody murder if some idiot tried to place a monument to Himmler or Tojo or Pol Pot or Idi Amin on the Mall in DC, but who in the frick would seriously even suggest such a concept to start with?

That 10 commandments monument could easily have been left right where it was, if the opponents had had any brains, and its presence there would have eased the concerns of a WHOLE bunch of Americans... but no, they just HAD to make a stink over it, and so the upshot is that EVERY time anyone with a brain cell passes by or thinks of that courthouse, or Alabama, or the 10 commandments... every one of them will be unable to see it right where it was in their imagination, for or against.

They just don't understand the power of visual imagery to heal and persuade... either that or they hugely OVERestimate it!

Does anyone remember when a small town started out with homes, a general store, a stable+blacksmith , Saloon/ courthouse ,and a Church/schoolhouse ?
Now if you mention GOD in a schoolhouse you are an aberration some of the old timey Hangin' Judges would be turnin' in their graves over these sad turn of events. i.e. Judge Parker of Arkansas Territory and ole Judge Roy Bean
