When I was with the MP's at Fort Lewis there was soldier who shot himself in the head (suicide). When we got the scene there was a another soldier sitting across from him on his bunk talking to the guy telling him, don't it man, this poor guy was in shock and did not believe the other soldier killed himself. You can imgaine what the wall looked liked behind this soldier.

Know a guy who grew up in south GA. Who says he grew up eating robins. Says they are better than dove. When I was growing up we had a butcher , who would take you in the freezer to watch him cut off the stuff you wanted. I envy the elk.

I was also EMT/Firefighter on a suicide call. The first man in came back out and said "shotgun to the head and there's nothing we can do." The second guy insisted there was and went in, came out immediately and puked on the lawn. The smart ones stayed out.

Post I worked for 7 1/2 years as an EMT

I averaged 100 calls a year.
I saw everything you could see.
I have a back door in my mind I keep locked.
I don't go there often.
Sometimes threads like this cause me to open that door.
Some of the memories are okay because we saved a life.
Some are right down funny.
Many are sad.
Some are just plain disgusting and gross.
But, . . . . .
I'm locking that door once again.
Its only good for occasional visits.
Some say that they call it PTSD.
But I've been fortunate in that I can open and close the door at will so far.

Keith
