It was good LT, It bought my first time under fire in Vietnam, and how badly I reacted to it. Was only in country about 4 months then, and was truly a FNG when the ferterilizer hit the cooler.

The worst thing that could happen to CBS,ABC,NBC,CNN is for people to watch FOX. Before fox the media was whatever they wished us to see or hear, Fox changed that, How dare Fox , giving both sides to a story, until one day when FOX had more viewers than NBC, OH- MY- God, the end of the world as we know it is upon us.
If people of the VN era or any other era for that matter want to send a message to the so called Main stream media, its easy, just watch FOX instead of NBC,CBS,ABC,CNN.
You can not send a message to them personally but you sure can send a message.

Roger you're last! I 'send a message' to the MSM goons every day by watching the Fox News Channel.

Ron they kinda showed the whole country where the attacks took place. The embassy, Hue, An My, didn't show Khe Sahn that I can remember. Showed a spot in An Khe were a Army chopper pad was attacked and how a reaction force got there to help stop the destruction of any helicopters.

Default As a FNG, I'm way late on this

but I'm right there with SuperScout and others in saying FUVM Walter! While the tears still come remembering the heroes who fell, we kicked their @$$. I thought we had it rough down at Hoi An, but much later I found out about Khe Sanh and Hue. At the time, the only clue we had that it was difficult up north was that we couldn't get emergency medevacs, ammo resupplies or air support, as all resources were occupied to the north. Didn't like the water buffalo or chicken grilled in burning hootches either.

And one more thing, I don't know about you all, only my experience. But I NEVER saw ANY reporter out in the boondocks, or ANY USO shows outside of the brigade HQ. How the $$$$ could they really know what was happening? Did they walk miles and miles seeing all the bloated NVA bodies and always smelling the stench afterwards? Apparently not.

A friend of mine a mile from me, Barney Barnes, is mentioned in "Fire in the Streets." Only when I read that did I realize that Barney's squad was the first across the bridge into the Citadel. The undermanned squad also took the train station. Another friend, Rick Mack was Barney's machinegunner and got his 3d purple heart there.

In 2007 I began to lobby our Tulsa World to print some sort of tribute to the heroes who won the war in '68, and the jerks were more than a little rude. Am I bitter, you bet! I hate those SOB's more than they hate me, that's why I sport my USMC colors whenever possible to remind them that I survived despite their efforts, and I don't have to make up excuses to my grandchildren like they do.

I left for the World 24OCT1968

What unit was brother Simonds?
If USMC, I'll be at a unit reunion at Quantico in May. The Gen Albert Gray Research Center has lots of info for the asking. Also, let me get back, I have found some online resources for MIA/KIA. I'll look. But the unit would help. Sorry for your loss, bro. We all wonder why them, not us.
