For an intercom to work you needed a CVC helmet (Combat Vehicle Communication ) 113 people didn't have them , tankers probably did. My ACAV'S only had 4 people on each track. Two 60 gunners , a TC on the 50 cal and a driver. No one had a chair on top. Like Doc said we rode on top but when the shit hit the fan the 60 gunners got in the cargo hatch and fired. the tc lit up the MA duce and the driver dropped down the drivers seat.We all had a platoon freq and I had a bn freq , which ment my track had two antennas. I tied the BN one down

When I was in the Duc Pho area and with the 25th we had a UPI reporter with us, He was on a tank and took a picture of me walking, He asked what my home town was, and I told him. He sent a picture to my home town news paper and they ran it on the front page, My mother saved it. I'm the one with the antenna.
