I, too, liked HAVE GUN - WILL TRAVEL.

When I was little I had no working concept of telegraphy, so, for quite a while I thought that "Wire" was a pretty weird first name for a gunfighter. :re:

Rigger,

Loved Paladin, too, as well as all the other old westerns. Don't forget Roy, Hopalong, Cisco Kid, Zorro, Red Ryder, and lots of others.

We did not have TV until about 1956 or 1957 so I did not see some of the shows when they originated but liked them once we got TV.

I don't know if it still exists, but there used to be a "quick draw" club of Hollywood stars. While I was out in CA I saw Sammy Davis Jr do a demonstration where he threw a Bowie knife, drew a Colt .45, fired, and the knife stuck in the bullet hole. That was damn impressive accuracy and speed.

My brothers and I were watching HGWT once when we noticed a jets contrail going over Paladin's head. We hooted about that. They didn't do as much editing in those days.

Always wanted to own a Jeep like "Nellie Bell", a dog like Bullet, and had a huge crush on Annie Oakley. My favorite Lone Ranger was always the one where he became the Lone Ranger and met Tonto. Rifleman was also a good series. Often thought how cool it would be to have been Mark or Rusty from Rin-tin-tin. Thought my life as a child was real boring compared to their's.

Steve, that's a hoot about "Wire Paladin". Funny how we see things at times when we are kids.

Anyone remember "Captain Gallant"? Not a western but was always a fun show.

I remember Rin Tin Tin, I liked that show too. I also like the tales of the Texas Rangers. The Lone Ranger is a classic. I also remember the show Circus Boy. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were also good. Rembmer Nellie Belle. I also liked Sky King. I also like the series Steve Canyon.

Packy,

Yeah, Cap't Gallant of the Foreign Legion starred Buster Crabbe. I had forgotten about that one. And what was that one about the RCMP; Sgt. Preston of the Yukon. It ran from '55-'58 and he had a husky named Yukon King.

Gee, had forgotten about Tales of Texas Rangers also. Always liked that.

Revwardoc,

I thought the name of the program was Sgt. Preston of the Yukon. Now you've got me. Your right about his "wonder dog" Yukon King. I'll try and look it up in between patients. Yep, we watched and liked that one also.

Robert, how funny you'd mention Steve Canyon. Was just talking about that with a former AF guy who rode in one of those F109's, I think, the Delta Wing Interceptor. He rode in the back seat of a trainer, which were the only ones with a back seat. Steve Canyon didn't last very long but we sure liked it as kids.

Rob Ryan,

The star of Circus Boy went on to star in another Emmy Award winning TV series. Who was it, and what was the series?
