Interview with Ralph Dresser (by: Stephen Maxner) - January 25, 2002 Interview Date: 25 January 2002 Collection: Ralph Dresser Collection Media Type: Oral History (Digital) Length: 4:58:03 min/sec Description: (USAF) Col. Ralph Dresser volunteered to go to Vietnam as the commander in the Ranch Hand Defoliation Squadron. He was going to fly C-123 cargo planes. Colonel Dresser left for Vietnam in November of 1965 and returned to the United States November 1966. In 1968 he volunteered to go back to Vietnam with an A-37 squadron as an operations officer and he also served as an advisor to a Vietnamese fighter wing in Vinh Tau. In 1972 Colonel Dresser took a maintenance team to Iran to dismantle F-5s and took them to give to the Vietnamese. Col. Ralph Dresser retired from the Air Force in 1982. |

He then served in Tachikawa, Japan, from 1965-1968, as a Captain of a DC-6, C-46, and DC-4 and later served in Naha, Okinawa as Captain of a P2V-7 (Skyhook). Interview conducted by Stephen Maxner. |

Eads Collection Media Type: Oral History (Digital) Length: 4 24:42 hr/min/sec Description: (USAF) William F. Eads was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1943. His father, a US Navy serviceman, was at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. Bill enlisted in the US Air Force in 1962. He completed Basic Training at Lackland AFB and aircraft maintenance training at Sheppard AFB. In 1963-65 Bill was based in Japan where he supported KB-50 tanker aircraft and visited many bases in Australia and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. He was also TDY at Udorn, Thailand, for two months in late 1964. After serving in the US, Bill returned to Udorn in August 1967. He was then TDY to Pakse and Vientiane, Laos, until May 1968. Bill's Air Force career also included a tour at Andrews AFB (1968-70) and two tours in Ankara, Turkey (1978-80, 1981-82). |
