![]() I feel like I know you very well altho we have never met face-to-face, or talked on the telephone. You have, more than most on these forums the past 3+ years, been able to pour out your feelings. Since I care about you, some advice also. You need to enroll in AA as soon as you can, and stay with it. I have an Uncle whose experiences parallel yours. What you did in the bar could be his obituary. He was killed by a gunshot in his face at point-blank range while attempting to break up a husband-wife fight in a bar. He had been a member of AA, but considered it BS. If he had listened he would still be alive.
May God Bless, Larry

![]() ...As imaginary as the warriors saloon is, that's about where I've been for a long time...
...spelling it out on a time line, in started smoking in 65, my sis 14/15 said it was cool, first Utica Club(cheap) around 68 never indulged much after that first 2 beer drunk at 9 years old through high school, while everyone else was field partying, I was in a military high school wanting to be a soldier,74-77, enlisted 8 days after graduation... ...found some time in tech school to plant a few on, but again, it was young adolessents(?), and "being with the boys", had a job to do, and that was become certified on Aircrew ejection seats, I was also the dorm rope, and had the responsability of others, graduated, and pressed on to pcs... ...from 77 to 89 I had never ever had any legal problems until I got a call one night from a "friend' who was stranded (boy/girl) at a bar, and called for a ride, problem was I had been out earlier for a softball game, and did have after game beers, 3, 4, after already home, safe, and sound(so to speak), I again went out to be helpful to someone in need, and ended up getting stopped, and blew a .08, DUI, ended up with the fine, and the classes, and it sucked, but it was a lesson learned, saw a lot of people , and experienced their mistakes, the ones that "blow" 2.5's, the 3.0's and the stories in "impact class" opened a lot of eyes,... ...point, from 89 to present, I have never had more then a traffic ticket for parking, that's 14 years, no accidents nothin, why, I learned to just not drink, and ever drive, but most important, it's the fact that I know when to say when, I drove over to Andy's and met with Tom, and Fred, and had a couple, but took the time to stop well before I had to drive back... ...2nd point, my travel time is limited as I "take care" of of my home full time, and my two children, when I leave the house, it is usually down to the other garage my brother, and I have in the city, I don't have a lot of outside contact with people on a close basis now for the last 8/9 years, and when I stop at this "sports bar" down the road from my house, it's just to "nurse 1, or 2 at most for a few hours to try to "at least" try to maintain some reality in the real world", so I guess I'm the best 2 drink drunk there is, i funtion 6, and 22/24th's days of the week, and if I stop once a week, and have 2 that's a lot, I will contradict my self now by adding, yes some hot summer afternoons on weekends home, i've had more then 2, but never to the endangerment, of myself or others... ...we've all bragged about our consumption, but even in the last two years, I'ce scoped it even closer now that my son was born,... ...a while back, yes, I got a bottle of "Gran Moneua"(?), as a gift and sipped my way through it, it was a rare occurence, and it was enjoyable but I don't have any booze in my house, my wife likes red wine, but I'll take one sip to taste, and offer conversations between it, I'm a two beer drunk as I don't endulge daily, now coffee, guily as charged... ...but seperating all issues aside, I can distingush a potentialy dangerous situation, and know the differences between PTSD, and being an alcoholic, I'm not an alcoholic... ...I feel safe in this one little bar for a few hours because it's usually a weekday night between7-9, after garage, more then going to the local "convienence store" for 20 seconds,... ...PTSD is aquired from many things, mine was from just being in "public" at the wrong time, and place, so being in "public" subjects me to an "on guard" everytime out the door...... ...madman, yes "truth honor, duty...... ...Ya know,...... just to add,........ You all might not respect me for my spewing of my viewpoints on other Nations, and their repective races who are looking to distroy our world from beyond, but I am that son of a Bi+ch that you want out there when your wife, and kids are out there on the street................

![]() Curtis,
I think everyone has mentioned the plus things you can do to keep pressing forth. I?ve never mentioned this before but I have more bullet holes in me than a roll of lifesavers and have struggled with orthopedic pain and all that stuff for a very, very long time. Maybe PTSD, I don?t know, as I?ve never checked it out. I have approached the issues by staying very active and standing well clear of the nitwits that would piss me off a ton if I got any where near them. These days I believe I?ve developed a sixth sense for that kind of thing and am at piece the vast majority of the time. One thing for sure, as Griz said if you are on Meds, loose the booze. The two don?t mix and it?s nothing but trouble, big trouble, guaranteed. And another thought, next time you feel the urge to intervene in a situation, call 911. They are trained to handle nitwits/take control and although you may be brave and all that, ya just never know where that will lead as confrontations like that take on a life all their own and what may seem rational to a cloudy brain one minute would seem as sheer insanity the next. Our prisons and graveyards are full to the brim with sad stories and the wisest of us find ways not to participate, nuff said. Scamp |
