Steve was a goner either way he went, He got a barb in the heart and the barb had a poison on it, Pull it out and bleed to death, leave it in and be poisoned,
You all are way to nice to say what is and was on your mind every time you ever seen the show, What a dumb ass. He was a very nice personality and seemingly a very likeable person, But what person in there right mind would hold onto a Cobra or anything else he handled, When you mess with mother nature your not going to win. Who really was surprised at the news of his death by a stingray? RIP Steve . |

AB84, Today I heard that Steve's Dad said NO! to the offer of a State Funeral for his son stating that his son was a regular bloke and wouldn't want all that ceremony for his funeral. Sounds like his dad was a pretty good bloke as well

Your right Ron, unfortunately it really was just a matter of time. It secretly cracks me up when I hear comments from the media such as he went the way he would have wanted! Somehow I kinda doubt it.

Thanks for the update. While I think Steve was a great person who will be missed dearly (pray for his wife and young ones), he really (my opinion) did not deserve a state funeral. Those kind of things should only be reserved for high ranking government and military officials of a state, but I also think veterans should be entitled as they do serve the state.

AB84, I concur with that too! here in Georgia the Governor gave Coretta Scott King one of them State Funerals and it was a waste of Taxpayer Dollars. She never did anything but spend money she got for living off her widowhood. If her husband hadn't been killed she would have divorced him when it got financially expedient for her.State Funerals should be reserved for those who served the public I.E. Presidents,Governors and other politicos that did good by their constituents and other elected officials who honorably served their State and people. Also those Soldiers,Sailors,Marines, and Airmen that distinguished themselves while on Active duty for the betterment of the citizens they are entrusted with protecting "Duty ,Honour, Country"

Jerry,
I have to say this since you brought up Coretta Scott King. Before I started at Illinois College (now graduated), we had her as a commencement speaker back in 2000. From what one of my profs. told me, she wanted all this special treatment including a limo and a $100,000 honorarium. We also awarded her an honorary doctoral degree. The funny thing about it is all the people who wanted her were blown off by her and she basically gave a poor speech and took the money, degree, and ran. I feel bad that your tax money went for this especially since it was used for a political cheap shot against the president. By the way in case you wanted to know more about her visit to IC, here's the website: http://www.ic.edu
