When I was our company's 2-5, our 3-5 was a guy named Duffy who I'm in contact with all the time. He's coming to visit again in June. Each year he goes from his home in Missouri to Newfoundland. They have a big get together for people who are into the pre-Revolutionary War era. Three cornered hats, brown bess muskets, all that stuff. Hell, he even makes his own bullets. Did you know about this big hoedown? I'm sure you and Duff would have a lot to talk about.

Hey, send me a PM or answer it here if you like. Could you make a 14th century battle axe? How much would it cost? Don't think I'll need the chain mail, still have my cop's vest.

Stay healthy,
Andy

Trav-
I don't think you understand how profoundly computer illiterate I am.Never fiddled with one of these PC thingies before slightly over 2 yrs.ago.My wife Nancy knows a little about em because she used and worked with them some on her job.I know how to play games and go to this and one other site on the web.Anything else I have to holler for help.Talked to her again and she assures me that we'll be set and fiddlin with pictures in the not too distant future.

Andy,I'm sorry but I cannot make your ax.However fine highly functional and historically accurate weapons of all sorts are probably much easier to obtain than you are probably aware. Most major SCA events (at least the ones I've been to)have merchants in attendence selling weapons-both costume, practice, and fully functional from the plain to the highly ornate.Same-same for Renassance Fairs. As mentioned earlier Museum Replicas(Atlanta Cutlery)sells high quality items mail-order.Their catalogue is well worth the $2-$3 I expect they cost now for the history lesson even if you don't buy anything from them.

Hal, I found out something about Vet Centers in Middle Tennessee. As you know, there are only four centers: Johnson City, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis. Three in East Tennessee and one in West Tennessee, leaving a huge area of no access for about half the state. According to Dick, my counselor when Vet Centers were being proposed it was kind of like the reception Methadone Centers get. Images of half-crazed bearded, dirty Vietnam vets flashed across some peoples minds and the Middle Tennessee congressmen kept them out. Our own Congressman Jimmy "Friend of the Vet" Quillen lived in Kingsport twenty miles away and he refused to let one be established in his back yard. That is why the Johnson City Vet Center is about 1/4 mile from Mountain Home VA Center.

Thanks Fred I appriciate the info.Kinda figured it was something along those lines.Frankly it's always been those freshly -scurbed,squeeky-cleaned, suited and tied politicians and Vanderbuilt(you are but dust beneath my chariot wheels) Docs. with their cherub smiles and cold eyes that have always scared hell out of me.Each to their own I guess.

Talked again with the fella at the Chattanooga ctr.and I now have an appointment for my "first evaluation for posible inclusion" in their group.Gosh.I was just kinda lookin for some other vets to sit an bullshit with.Guess I'd best check an see if I messed up and applied to a Country Club by mistake.

Hi, Guys! Gracie "your friendly Outhouse Saloon bartender" here. I had a fabulous time meeting everyone. Wouldn't have missed it for all the world, despite the lack of aforementioned marriage proposal (ha ha).

Thanks, y'all,

Gracie

Talking Gracie

I'm the therapist for the group. We must share "Notes". As long as they are heavily medicated they are harmless. I have often felt I was a failure because they must be heavily medicated for public safety.

Keith

P.S. I perform wedding ceremonies for free to all Patriotfiles women and men. No offers yet because no one wants to come to Washington to get married.

Gracie,
They really are a great bunch of guys. But, don't let them know because we want them to remain humble.

Default Hello

Garcie, welcome to the site, didn't notice the post before, sorry.
You must remember Bob, he's the one with the cop regulation mustache, the one who brought 20 cases of beer.

Keith, humble, ya that's what we all are, humble.

Stay healthy,
Andy (Tom)

Hi y'all!

LT:
See ya Tues., and thanks for the invite. Will be there with bells on.

Keith:
I am certain we will have some interesting "notes" to share, as I'd not be surprised if I become the tarot reader/astrologer for the group. Look forward to it.

BobK:
We'll see; I don't know if anyone can imagine what me married would look like.

and last, but certainly not least

Andy:
So good to hear from you. Still looking forward to sharing that '48 Lafitte with you. Pray for a windfall for us both.

Love & Kisses,
Gracie
