Just got some bad news yesterday.

The love of my life, my wife Jackie will need to undergo surgery on her left eye next week because of complications from glacoma and a special 'drain' system she had implanted in this eye back in 2000 to relieve uncontroled pressure in that eye.

She's had glacoma for a number of years now and had to have the implant 'drain' placed into her left eye in 2000 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta becuase they could not control the pressure with drug medication. It was working fine for the last six years or so, but these past few months the pressure in this eye has been slowly increasing to the point of danger in the past couple of weeks.

We went for her regular opthamologist appointment yesterday and he told us that she must undergo this surgery ASAP or face the possibility of total blindness because of the high pressure in that eye.

Since he does not have the expertise to do this surgery himself he made arrangements for her to have the surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, which is the worlds foremost leader in the technology in performing this type of surgery.

We are leaving town Monday morning for her pre-op appointment on Tuesday, with the surgery scheduled the next day (Wed.)---She will have to stay in the hospital for at least two to three days following the surgery to make sure everything is working properly and the pressure comes down in her eye before we can come back to Tampa.

She will need twice per week meetings with her doctor when we get back home to monitor her pressure in that eye for at least the next six weeks or so in order to make sure the new 'drain' system is working properly.

So it appears my attending this years festivities on the mountain top will have to wait until next year.

I'll be thinking of you guys and gals that weekend and maybe y'all can give me some updates via Patriot Files when we get back home after Jackies surgery.

Please say a little prayer for her next Wed., this is a very complicated as well as dangerous operation.

I will miss you terribly this year but you go Bo, and get that lovely lady fixed up, ya hear? Deb and I have her on the list....and my Deb is dang close to the big guy. I know the operation will go fine, and that Jackie will be able to keep both eyes on the Gimpster when this is over. She will need them!

Take care my dear friend and tell Jackie we are pullin' for her.

Well, wait, just thought of sumthin. Old b00ger claims to be a doctor when ever we are out somewhere. Maybe he could do the surgery on the Mtn.! No, never mind. He says he's an GYN.
