It looks like you stepped in the reindeer shit, and then inserted your foot in your mouth. What kind of response did you expect to get, coming on an American site, frequented by American Vets, and bad-mouth America and it's Veterans? Why the big surprise?

Personally, I wasn't one to jump on the Welcome Wagon when you first showed up here. I tend to hang back with the foreign members until I get more of a feel for them. We've had other supposed "Allies" come on here and eventually take up one of the most favorite International Pastimes, America Bashing. Most recently, Australian and Canadian. Didn't take you long at all.

Your accusation that we Americans feel no compassion for this tragedy at the check point only illustrates your dislike for us, or your ignorance of us, or both. Why would you think that a people that spends billions of dollars annually, not just tax dollars but personally donated money from our pockets, to feed, clothe, house, and educate millions of children around the world would feel indifference, or even joy, about the deaths of these poor children? How much does the Norwegian people spend on foreign aid? Do the Norwegians send people, money, and relief materials to virtually every natural disaster in the world? How much foreign aid, comes into America for victim relief of our floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.? Even the 9/11 attack? Nil, none, zip, zero.

You, as a European, should know first hand about our willingness to step up to the plate and put our money, and our lives, on the line. There's hardly a European country that doesn't owe us a War Debt that, in most cases, has never been payed, not to mention a Debt of Gratitude. It seems that you, like many Europeans, have a short memory. Don't try to put yourself on a higher moral or ethical level than the Americans on this site.

As a two tour Viet Nam Vet, I take your slurs and slanders about Viet Nam Vets as a personal attack. It especially pisses me off coming from a supposed military man. Your comparison of all Viet Nam Vets to those who were involved at My Lai, only shows how ignorant and uneducated you are. I'm not going to try to justify my service to my country, or my life since the war, to the likes of you. If you really want to find out about the kinds of men we are, read some of our biographies on the Veteran Of The Month page on this forum. You'll find Paco, myself, and several others that you will probably recognize there. I doubt if you're really interested, though. It's easier to think the worst of people or nations, than to educate yourself to the contrary.

... the fumes wreck me beyond words, but he just floats around continuing to spray until there is such a cloud, even with the fans on to remove the fumes, there is always a billow hanging around, and he has that "smile on", respiraters are clogged, and I say "when the hell are you gonna get new cartridges for these, but it falls on dear ears...
