Default Ford

CEO said that Ford doesn't want any of the $15 billion on the table for the Big three auto maker bailouts. Seems they are going to take care of their affairs in-house. My advice, Chapter 11 then Move to Texas, It's a right to work state, leave the UAW in Michigan and start making money again.

Sounds like a plan to me, Ron. Probably contains too much common sense, though.

People are so caught up with what they think is going on they don't see their hand in front of their face.
Ford doesn't want any of the governments money. How plane can that be . No thanks. Forget it. Nota, fineto. Ford is not GM or Chrysler. Let me say that again. Ford is not GM or Chrysler. Got it. Keep your money.

I've driven Fords for the last 12 years or so and my old man drove them for 17 years. They had their share of problems like lousy paint jobs in the mid 60's and the Famous Pinto exploding gas tank. But by in large my Taurus and my Ford 500 have performed flawlessly. As of this moment, I intend to purchase another Ford unless something goes drastically wrong.

My 500 is two and a half years old now with 46,000 miles on it. Have done nothing but regular scheduled maintenance. Replaced the rear brakes once and the front brakes once. The Taurus had over 110K miles on it with just brake jobs and regular maintenance.

They days of "Found on Road Dead" are gone.

If Ford hangs tough and presses on without getting ‘money from home’ they are likely to see their customer base increase. That stance sends a good signal about determination and toughness. Now, if they can somehow rein in the abusive excesses of the UAW, they may end up in solid shape and energized to go do some kick ass in the market place. Ok, for my bit, second place just went to first place and there could be a new Ford in my future. My elder brother just got a new Mustang, zow, that rig has the pepper and appears to be well built. Down side, I don’t drive that fast and he shouldn’t either. But like a serene on the rocks, it’s impossible to not light the wick. So, no Mustang for me, but something a bit more mellow would work.

When working oil exploration in North Africa, all the prospect trucks were Ford F 500. Only the utility bed changed, but otherwise were identical. Camp rules: Ya break it ya fix it, so one experience doing a clutch change was enough for me to learn how to baby that F 500. Due to the fine sand in the Sahara, daily oil and oil filter change was necessary, and that happened before the dinner bell rang. If one didn’t know how to wrench, life could get damn difficult in the camp, like woosing out is unacceptable behavior and the daily F 500 check list was just something that just happened. At best, we could get 10K miles out of the engine package and those were after market engines with chrome cylinder sleeves and chrome journals on the crank. The sand, always the fine sand messing things up. But we had spare engines a plenty and a big mammy jammer ’A’ frame made short work of the change out.

Sweet ride,Ron. My favorite all-time car is a Ford. `56 Crown Victoria..I really like the new Mustang. I`d buy one before a Corvette.

Ah Griz
My Mustang was $26,000
You can't buy a corvette for anywhere close to that.
