IRBIL, Iraq — Several rockets struck areas in Baghdad and an air base used by American troops Saturday, the Iraqi government said.

Five civilians were reported injured in the capital’s Jadriya neighborhood, according to regional news site Al Arabiya. No casualties were reported at two other impact sites, Grand Celebrations Square in the Green Zone, and Balad Air Base, about 55 miles north of Baghdad.

Army Maj. Charlie Dietz, spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition’s Task Force Iraq, tweeted just before 8 p.m. that the U.S. Embassy, located in the capital’s heavily fortified international zone, had not been struck. About an hour later, he tweeted that “all clear” had been sounded at Union III, a base inside the zone that houses coalition troops.

At least one rocket hit #Balad,” Deitz tweeted, citing U.S. sources. “One confirmed point of impact but there may be updates.”

Reports of the attack came as thousands of militiamen and other supporters marched in a funeral procession in Baghdad for Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Iran's top general who was killed Friday in a U.S. airstrike.
