Thanks Danny for all the wonderful history and photos of your time in Vietnam. When you flew into McChord AFB, Mt St Helens was still the tallest Mt. in Washinton. I always wonderd if you could see it from the flightline. Mt Ranier was Pretty awesome to see every morning from my barracks there at McChord for twelve years. " Welcome Home "

I posted a copy of this thread under Veterans Memorials. And left the originalhere. I just did notwant to see it get lost in the thousands of pages of posts. It is a touching historical narrative and it's my hope that many will find it and read when they come to the site.

Default Thanks for the memories

Your shots of the area of Quang Tin province that was north of my AO brought back a lot of memories. Of course the terrain is nearly identical with that around LZ Professional, where I spent my year (there and the "surrounding area.") I'll have to post some shots from around LZ Professional

Default Thanks for the kind words

Many times I heard"Oh hell he's got his camera out again"but I didn't pay them no mind.I took all the photo's I could get.I could only get to the PX in rear every two months and buy what film was available, mostly 35mm slide film.I would buy it prepaid in a Kodak envelope, shoot the film, send it to Hawaii to get developed and they would send it home.I didn't get to see them until I got home but I didn't have to hump them in the jungle either.Photo is of me when I was a Sgt and fire team leader before I left the jungle. We were waiting for some choppers to come and pick us up.
When I got back from Vietnam I didn't want talk about Vietnam and most people didn't want to hear about Vietnam.I carried them long enough.I posted my story on the Patriot Files because I wanted them to be preserved.Should I leave this world tonight I feel good knowing that I got my shot at trying to explain my part in that war.Time has made me forget a lot of things and some things I never want to remember again. The hurt, horror and disappointments changed me from a boy to a man nearly overnight.I do what I guess every other guy does, try to remember the good times and never forget the guys who didn't make it.I'm glad that somebody is interested in my story now.
Thanks again for the kind words.
