I think it's a form 180...

...anyone else fiind it before me...

I think it may be the 180 too. We have the 180 ready for download in the VA Forms section of the downloads page.

Looks right to me - the 180 will get you your DD214 (got me mine) but the site may list other record requests too.

...it's the "National Records, and Archive Administration site, I'm sure the form is listed on others also,... hope it helps,
...I have the form in this booklet, but do not have any means to scan, , and send....

That form,however asks for alot of info that I don`t have..SS#,etc. Should I just fill out what I know and send it?

I have done a lot of research regarding Civil War veterans using the NATF form 180. It is primarily for the national archives. In some rare instances while searching for a Civil War soldiers records I discovered that the records had not yet been transferred to the archives from the Veteran's Administration.

It has proven quite difficult for me, a non family member, to try to get some of the records because the Veteran's administration will not release them until they become archived.

Never the less this kind of research is very interesting to me. Good luck.

...shouldn't you be able to get his SSN from SS???, by just explaining your delema, I got my nieces when her mother wouldn't give it to her, but she was right there to grab the phone...
