Yes I put that on purpose (sp)

One thing I want to ask ( because my granddaughter) ask me yesterday

We were listening to country music and the song " who is going to fill the shoes" came on and she ask about the Vets

I wish I could put into perspective the way she put it , but I am trying.

She knows all about the vietnam war and war of Korea,

But now she was listening to that song and ask me " who is going to fill the shoes?

Just what do you tell a five yr old that there are many many many more out there doing their job .

It is hard for me to tell this little girl that some arent going to make it home.

Like I say she is only five , but smart as a whistle (sp)

I personally cant tell her because of the relationship,

It is bad enough every day for me to get along, but I do and try my best not to cheat anyone out of there glory, But I have the main man upstairs watching.

I use to be smart until I starting the damn drinking and the painting. Paint fumes especially Laquer and beer dont mix in the long run

Reeb,

your childern and you must teach your grand daughter about who will fill the shoes. It has been my experience that the schools will not teach about nationhood, patriotism, the flag. All of that is passe now. It is up to the home and family to instill the values that we as youngsters in the 50's took for granted.

As hard as I tried, I only succeeded with one of my three children. 2 could not care less about our boys in uniform, but my oldest son is a first class middie now and next year he will be going into the submarine fleet.
