Thanks for all the responses and ideas pertaining to
decibel ratings for gunfire and sources to check.

To all my comrades who have been battling with the VA
, do not give up, appeal their decisions if they are
wrong, which they most often are. Example: On my
appeal to DRO at VA, my VSO and I could not believe
their latest excuse for denial of claim. They said no
evidence of combat even though the dd214 shows combat
medal with 4 stars. Showing they don't read all the
claims but merely rubber stamp them so they can claim
to be processing more when they are not.
