There are at least 13 people who would agree with you on that stat...if they could. Fire can be a serial killer.

The media keeps refuring the size of Iraq to California. The amount of people that die each year from Medical or accidents or drugs or violence in California is well over 1000 times the deaths in Iraq. Its safer to be in the 4th ID than in LA.

For reasons that are unclear, the media likes to compare the size of Iraq to that of Cal. In square mile area they are similar but Cal. has about 10 million more people and is a lot more diverse in terms of religious, ethnic and racial mix. Anymore, I?m beginning to think of Sacramento as ?Little Russia? with the incredible influx of Russian immigrants living there now.
A bit ago the Sec. of Defense made a comparison between the US violence casualty rate in Baghdad and that of the DC area and DC won the violent death head count. He got severely shouted down by the media for making such comparisons but the comparison is valid in terms of putting things in perspective. Now if a comparison were to be made between Baghdad and Iraq in general to the gangland deaths and criminal murders in south-central LA and similar Cal. gang environments, my guess is that we?d be looking at some mighty shocking numbers, mighty shocking. Shocking to the point that we might wonder exactly who is out of control and unstable. Themins or usens?
