Post Maritime Law and Disasters

Hi,

My name is miranda and I want to write my upcoming history paper for college on international maritime disasters and the laws that were created because of them.

I would greatly appreciate any help in the following areas as this is out of my study realm, but Im really looking forward to adding this information towards my degree. I often try to research papers that are different compared to anyone else because a vast array of historical knowledge is better than sticking to just one area.
1) Any interviews would be greatly appreciated
2) Any websites, books, or other sources
3) Any such disasters that you know of.

I have researched a few options, but nothing is really solid yet. Thank you so much for your time and if you have anything you would like to ask me go on ahead!

Miranda

I think the Great Lakes ship wrecks are very interesting. I believe there are close to 6,000 of them. The loss of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald is of particular interest. Many new procedures and new types of equipment were put into use on the lakes after the loss of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald.

David,

I would definately love to do something on the Fitzgerald, but unfortunately Dr. Rogers wants a non-US topic selected. I am very much still interested in the Great Lakes though, and would still like to learn about them for future references! Thank you very much

Also check out this:

It is a short description of the top ten Coast Guard rescues of all time. Several involve large ships.
