Thumbs up Met a Marine and his family last night

My son in law hadn't seen his cousin in 10 years but she called and their family was headed to Camp Lajune (sp) where her husband , Joe , would leave for his second deployment to Afghanistan. They wanted to stop and say hello with 3 young children in toe. Told them to stay for dinner. Joe enlisted 13 years ago , when he was 18 , and is now a SSG and a grunt. We hit it off right away. He pulled out his laptop and showed me pictures of his first tour and I found my old picture book and showed him my year in Vietnam. Uniforms and weapons were different but tactics seemed about the same. He worked out of FOB's we worked out of FSB's and our missions were the same , find , fix , close and destroy the enemy. I must have thanked him 20 times for his service to our country and my family and he thanked me for the same things 38 years ago. We agreed that people go to war for lots of reasons but when the shit starts flying we are fighting for each other , our brothers. Told them no motel , find a couch , chair or floor and spend the night the kids could double up in my grandkids room. Had to get up early and kinda snuck around them so not to wake them. I been walking taller today because our country has men like Joe walking in harms way for us .... and each other. Angels on their six.
