Exclamation Third World Countries

2-8-2019

(opinions)

If “The United States of America” turns into a “Third World Country”, the whole damned planet ‘will’ follow - for like it or not, we are the guiding beacon for that world! “The problem is that far too many no longer even seem to care!”

“But Hell No”, we are immortal, we are immune, and we are ever lasting - or so goes the current rhetoric of at least one political party! (I will leave it to you to guess which one?)

In my opinion, it takes one helluva country-hating fool not to see the handwriting on the wall, and yet still plunge headlong into that wall, leaving naught but a bloody mess in his wake! And the way that things are going, the blood and guts that are splattered like excrement all over that wall, just could be ours if we do not quickly come to our senses?

Once again, it all boils down to whom we love the most – “OUR NATION” or any political faction that worships power and control before even national survival? “And now the choice is yours!”

I will however tell you this: “The world is not likely to ever again see the magnificent likes of “The United States of America!” So if you screw-up and allow ourselves to be taken over from within, then you have no one to blame but yourselves – “And the way that it is looking????

“DAMNED FOOLS!!”

Arrow Can the USA become a third world country?

Can the USA become a third world country?
By: Matt Jones
RE: https://www.quora.com/Can-the-USA-be...-world-country

America is still the most powerful coutry in the world. But, in many ways, America is fast becoming a developing country, simply because it has not moved forward in any significant area (that matters to the people) for over a decade now. If you live in America and have not been entirely brainwashed by the theology of the American Dream, you will notice something: that nothing has changed in the USA for the past 15 years. Absolutly nothing has happened in a positive direction here in the United States. We still got gun violence issues which seemed to have gotten worse (with a recurring pattern of “when kids got massacred, gun stocks go up”). We still do not have a universally accessible healthcare system despite spending so much on healthcare (and if we should have anything resembling a UHC, we can be sure that the government would come and tear it asunder). Our troops still got stuck in the stupid middle-eastern wars even after 15 years of failed WMD quests. Our public school education is in a perennial crisis; our children from low-income families are the least literate students in the developed world. The transportation systems in our cities — even among the richest ones like the NY subway and DC metro — are crumbling apart, with unspeakable corruption and incompetence. Our middle-class populations are dying left and right from opioid overdoses. The state of our economic/income inquality is already on the same level of a third-world nation. It’s the 21st Century but there is still no mandatory paid leave for pregnant women. Police brutality still rages on among our colored populations. And now our Environment Protection Agency (EPA) is doing everything it can to weaken environmental regulations in favor of unscrupulous polluters. All of this and more, while our economy has swelled to the size of $20 trillion. The US government simply refused to do anthing that would improve the quality of life of the American people — as if doing so would be a grave betrayal to the spirit of classical libertarianism. For too long, they (especially the GOP) have failed to address any of the pressing societal problems of this country. But they would not hesitate to cut trillions of taxes dollars for rich companies.

What troubles me the most is the inability of our people to demand a concrete change. Unless the two main parties — the GOP and the Democrats — work together, there is not much the American people could do to change the status quo. They will likely have to endure the same failures for a foreseeable future.

Now the developing world is catching up very fast. Think about Brazil, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines or Thailand: these are already solid newly-industrialized middle-income countries and the governments are constantly trying to improve the quality of life of their citizens in every aspect. Within the next 20 years some of these countries could join the ranks of first-world nations. Thus, by 2040, the world would look very different from now. If America continues to do nothing to rectify the social ills that are visible today, the country would surely slip back in to the developing country’s rank.

RE: https://www.quora.com/Can-the-USA-be...-world-country

GOOD QUESTION, AND THE ANSWER IS “EASILY”.

Quite easily. Statistically it is very close to a certainty. Why? Becuase (uncomfortable truth) the difference between first world and third world countries is the size of the underclass. First world countries, during the medieval period, were successful in reducing the underclasses through aggressive use of law, war, malthusian crop yields, and disease.

Today’s third world countries cannot produce goods and services of sufficient value to compete on the world’s markets. Ergo there is no means of organizing a voluntary organization of production (consumer capitalist economy).

In painful terms, the reality is that as a nation’ s IQ drops below 100, the ability to compete on the world stage is increasinlly difficult, and as far as I am able to determine, that number will only increase over time.

If you add to that problem, a regressive religion, or a familial low trust culture, or a tendency for corruption, or the ‘resource curse’, then the problem is impossible to overcome.

As far as I know, south africa and brazil are the most likely futures available to the western world.

Americans have imported vast numbers of third world underclasses who are breeding at rates far above those with superior genetic markers. So as far as I can see, there is no way of fixing this problem now.

The only prudent peoples on the planet today are the swiss and the japanese.

3. Owen Henson, B.A. Psychology, University of Portland states:

Technically, yes and it’s very close. i say close because the distinction between first and third-world countries should be seen as a spectrum rather than a hard and fast separation. The definition of third-world I am about to introduce assumes requirements that can vary widely among any countries.

We seem to equate third-world countries with developing countries. I believe an acceptable definition of a developing country is: One that has yet to successfully implement one or more novel features widely across its population which are available to other countries (for example, indoor plumbing or nationwide electricity). Now we have access to both those things, as well as to pretty much any other tangible resource, so what are some things we’ve never successfully implemented as opposed to other first-world countries? By success I will accept it as gotten through at least two election cycles without majority disapproval or withdrawal. Here are some that come to mind, but ask and answer in your heads for yourselves too (maybe even ask yourselves if we have first-world qualities the rest of the world doesn’t. But sorry, American Freedom doesn’t count to me)

-Universal Healthcare

-Universal Education

-Adequate family leave policy

-Self-sufficient/Renewable energy supply (I hear Ireland’s giving that 100% renewable a go, so under this spectrum definition they’re starting a half-rung above other first-worlds)

-A successful form of democratic socialism, where capitalism thrives but the profits are mainly redistributed back into the population as a safety net in the form of the first three points, if not more. (many, many countries we consider first-world have started to manage this, making us below the curve in this instance)

If you couldn’t figure it out, that list is probably me coming out as a liberal. War and debate with me as you will. If I don’t answer it’s simply because I don’t have the knowledge to debate on that particular point with you, and you “win” until you meet your match, yay!

My point is, under the current times, we are behind in several ways compared to other groups of society. We end up that way because US politics are ultimately conservative, and conservatives, by semantics, are resistant to any novel changes, beneficial or otherwise, because their lives have gone along just fine without it, which is a perfectly valid reason, why should third-world countries be so negatively coined just because they simply haven’t adopted our ways of life yet? But consider this: If you were a true conservative, in earlier times you would have been politically inclined to oppose such things like electricity. Right now you’re politically inclined to oppose things like a progressive tax on the wealthy because you believe everyone can still prosper under your philosophy. At some point you have to ask yourself: At what point does conservatism, or even being reactionary if you’re that degree of conservative, become so limiting that it reduces your society to stagnation, or even regression to a third world country?

That point is approaching with every progressive policy other countries take the lead in, and will approach even faster if the third world countries that typically come to mind decide to introduce features like the ones I suggested, so unless you want to be reduced from the engine of innovation to the caboose, there will be a time where you have to accept progressive policies. And if you don’t, you’re going to need to accept the idea that third-world isn’t the derogatory term it’s subconsciously believed to be.

Is the U.S. now a third world country?
By: John Precht
RE: https://www.quora.com/Is-the-US-now-...-world-country

The World Health Organization rates the United States 37th in Healthcare.

The Central Intelligence rates the life expectancy of Americans 47th in the world.

We have more homeless and more people in prison according to population than any Western and many Asian Nations.

Our students are poorly educated and our citizens noted for their ignorance. Our people believe in Noah's Ark but not evolution. Critical thinking? What's that?

We are by far more likely to get shot by our police and fellow citizens than any Western and Asian Nations.

With the legalized bribery of campaign contributions and with the Supreme Court decision that the money of Corporations spent in politics is Free Speech, we have one of the most corrupt governments in the world. Wealthy oligarchs now own our government.

The United States with its 6 corporations that own 90% of the media allow us to have the world's best propaganda machine. Better than the North Koreans, better than the Russians, and better than the Chinese. Just how is the American propaganda machine the best? Because the American people actually believe every lie they are told. America is the savior and policeman of the world.

Take a look at the picture below. It is beyond my comprehension how any American can look at it and not think third world dictator…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This last posting (name not given) seems redundant but hits on similar issues:

- Health-care, and health-care outcomes, are one area where the US is lagging ever further behind the other developed nations

- The scale and reality of lobbying, gerrymandering, and other problems begs the question of what we define as government corruption, and whether the US is corrupt;

- The US has quite high, and growing, wealth inequality;

- Judging by the numbers of people incarcerated, the US must have very high crime rates indeed;

- The US government debt exceeds 100% of GDP, and with the Trump tax cuts, economists are predicting it will rise sharply again;

- The US has far less of a social safety net than the rest of the developed world, and some in the government want to cut it further.

All I would say is: the US is facing an uncertain future. Something must be done. I am happy to point out the red flags I see, but as for what must be done?

That is up to Americans.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My conclusion on this subject varies with each individuals conception of our current status.
I suspect much of what is posted is true but then these folks (mostly outsiders looking in) see the course we're on differently than those living in America.

I do foresee difficulties ahead in many areas of our current policies. But not being able to make any changes or suggestions that would hold water - I can only say that our trust in our institution is being closely scrutinized by many peoples locally and around the world. What will the end result be? Still has to be written:
