Planet of the Apes
Spain?s Parliament just passed a provision granting full human rights to the Apes. I wonder if anyone consulted with the chimps and gorillas about this new status and if all chimps and gorillas are now Spanish citizens or just those residing in Spain. Fascinating critters, the Apes, and in need of protection but this level of participation and equal responsibility under the law may be a bridge too far.
When the Apes learn of this and become fully cognizant of all the ramifications; which isn?t anytime soon, I expect someone will recognize a chimp gesture to mean; ?you got to be kidding, give me a break man, get off my back, I?m cool just like I am?. Now, I just wonder who is going to be empowered to figure and tally the Ape vote; collect their entitlement benefits, etc., etc. and what their EU status will be and if they will be issued passports and/or EU identity cards. :cd: Scamp
