Donate your frequent flyer miles to the troops in Iraq : http://heromiles.org
From an email I received from The Libertarian Party ...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PRESIDENT?S CORNER Dear friends, As we celebrate the holidays, we cannot forget that 150,000 American soldiers are in Iraq and Afghanistan -- in danger and far away from their families, friends and other loved ones. I've found a great way that -- in the best spirit of the holidays -- you can help them. Currently, soldiers are being given two-week breaks at short notice to return home to their families. But there's a big problem. The military only flies them as far as three U.S. airports. Beyond that, the soldiers themselves have to foot the bill -- buying expensive last-minute tickets to get the rest of the way home. Soldiers granted emergency leave -- to spend time with a dying loved one, attend a funeral of a family member, or share in the birth of a child -- face a similar situation. Many struggling military families simply can't afford those tickets. So the soldiers are stranded. Families are separated from their loved ones. However, HeroMiles.org -- a website set up by Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) -- offers a solution. You can donate your unused frequent flier miles -- from virtually any U.S. airline -- to soldiers who need them to get home. What a great idea! And it's purely voluntary, in the best libertarian tradition. To donate your frequent flier miles, or to learn more about the program, visit: http://heromiles.org I look forward to the day when ALL of our soldiers are returned home from Iraq, Afghanistan, and our numerous other "entangling alliances" around the world -- permanently. Until then, this gives us a chance to help at least a few come back, for a little while. (Note: If you donate flier miles to this cause, please send us an email and let us know how many miles you donated -- we'd like to know. Thank you.)
