It's easy to see what one would miss through the pictures. A hell of a good time.

Donna opened up a tattoo parlor. Some of the participants were:

Dan

Paul
Kath

Kath close up

I liked mine so well I am looking into getting a real one just like the fake one Donna put on. I had a chain of California poppy's around my ankle done this summer.

Default Screaming Eagles

James, Dan, and I served in the 101st Abn. Div. in VN. This was back when it was just the 1st Bde. in-country. Back when it was still an all-paratrooper unit. James and Dan were in the 1/327 [Above The Rest], and I was with the 2/502 [Strike Force]. James' and my tours overlapped by a couple of months. I was short when James got there, and I was gone when Dan got there.

BTW, all three of us were also All Americans [82nd Abn. Div.]

L-R: James, Dan, and me.

Default A Band Of Brothers

Those of you that read the book and/or saw the mini-series knows that it was about the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division in WWII. When the unit was first organized they trained at Camp Toccoa, GA. This is the location of Currahee Hill, the killer training hill from which the regiment took it's nickname [Currahees].

On the Saturday of the Campout James, Dan, and Tom [Packo] drove over to Camp Toccoa for the day. Tom was the only one to RUN up Currahee Hill,........the last 20yrds. or so, anyway. They then visited the museum and gift shop and bought hats and tee shirts. And they didn't forget their Airborne Brother [me].

Thank you, my Brothers.

L-R: Me, Dan, Tom, and James.

Default Tom

Great pics from you and Kath. Thanks! You know..even though our circumstances were different from the Toccoa Men and WWII in general, everytime I leave the Mountain, I truly feel I'm with my Band Of Brothers. Not sure what you and Kath did after leaving Sunday, but hope you swung by Toccoa. If not...maybe next year.

I miss the mountain already. How long until Veterans Day?

Default Maybe next year for Camp Toccoa.

When we left you guys on Sunday, we headed north into TN. We spent the night at Pigeon Forge [thanks, BobK]. We spent the night in a motel there so we could drive on through Smokey Mountains National Park the next day in the daylight. That night, we had a rainstorm reminiscent of VN. It was cloudy with patches of rain all the next day as we drove through the park. It didn't diminish the beauty of the the place, though. We got to Fayetteville, NC, Monday night.
