Default Military decorations?

During my tour and after discharge I recieved a honorable discharge and a few medals but those were lost to a few divorces and the subsequent required personal relocations.
Can I get those things reissued and how do I do it?

Stick,

Go to your local Veterans Office, (VA, Vet Center, county, state) and fill out a SF 180 requesting a reissue due to "house fire". You will eventually get a one time reissue of all medals given by the US Gov. You will get none of the Vietnamese ones. You will send it to St. Louis, the address is on the form. It takes awhile so get your butt in gear!

If you want to try a commercial source, try www.usmedals.com. They can also provide nice display cases for all your lettuce.

You ain't re-upin' or something crazy, or you? I understand about that serial marital process.

You can now apply on line for a one time replacement of medals and awards but don't know if you still have to provide a SF 180 for I made my request my mail. Also ask for your DD 214 to be updated to reflect any medals or awards not on your current one. I did this two years ago and I was surprised to find that I had a few medals awarded that I didn't know about. They do not give you foreign awards like the Vietnam Campaign Medal but they did send the ribbon. Like has been said, you can buy the foreign awards commercially and that's what the Army suggests. When I received my medals, badges and awards I noticed on some of the boxes the Army got them from Graco Awards at http://www.gracoind.com/ so that?s where I bought the foreign awards from.

Here's the NARA site http://www.archives.gov/veterans/for-vets/

If your discharge certificate was among the missing items, as mine became, I found it impossible to get an authentic reissue of it.

However, many years later, when one of my daughters grew all the way up, she found it among her mother's papers, and sent it to me... because I asked her to look for it.
