Outer Limits?!

I can almost hear that weird little tune that they played at the beginning of every Outer Limits episode on television, every time I ponder the fate of our Mars probes!

So there sits the mysterious Red Planet Mars, canals (?) and all, inviting the people of Earth to pay it a call, ?AND MAYBE NOT!?? Being the seventh largest (of nine known) planets in our own little neck of the celestial woods, and the forth from the Sun, mankind has long speculated about the possibilities of life on this mysterious orb? As a matter of fact, many a sci-fi movie has had its origins in the fertile minds of man, and upon the barren plains of this forbidden world (Mars)!

?OK, enough of the little green men, Space Patrol, Buck Rogers, Star Trek and the like!? But in all fairness, we still must ask ourselves the "Big Questions" - ?Are we alone, and what has happened to most of our un-manned expeditions to the Red Planet?

"Is there someone (or something) out there that wants no part of Earth-Life?" Are we being sent a message from space to "Stay In Our Own Backyard", or is it just fate and circumstance that is putting the bugaboo on our deep (?) space efforts!?"

Of course, the "Planet Mars Itself (named after the Roman God of War) is anything but cordial to humanity, with temperatures ranging from -17 degrees in the daytime, to -130 degrees at night (Mars Pathfinder, 1997)! ?And the anomalies on this Unfriendly Planet are just not to be believed!? The temperature on the ground is a comfortable 60-70 degrees F, while just 5-6 feet above the Mars Lander (late July), the temperature can drop from -10 to -15 degrees F!! (WOW!!)

?So there you have it!? Are we out of our league when matching our wits with the ?Lords of the Universe?, or is our technology not yet up to the task? ?Or are the troubles that we are encountering a result of extra-terrestrial interference on a grander scale perhaps??

?Now if you all will excuse me, I have a saucer to catch!?
