Global Pandamonium?

Ain?t it great that since World War II, the world has been such a sanguine (Cheerfully Optimistic) place to live? Granted, we have had some miraculous advancements, but in case you haven?t noticed, we have also picked up some real bugaboos along the road back to Eden!

Let?s see, that ?Great War? (WW2) has seen a few minor (?) skirmishes trailing along in it?s wake! Places like Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq, just to mention a few, have become real news in just the last half century or so! And ailments like SARS, AIDS, West Nile Virus, and other drug resistant diseases, have also reared their ugly little heads of late! Hell, the next thing ya know, the Marsians will be invading, and if not them, then some humongous piece of space rock will come a-calling!

And let us never forget our beat-up ozone layer, depleted natural resources, mounting pollution, killer bees, lime and Rocky Mountain Spotted Ticks, and of course old Mother Nature Herself. The recent tornado epidemic, hurricanes, flash floods, tsunamis, etc!

Ah yes, and then there is mankind?s little contributions to the iaconic brew! The wars, terrorism, famine, drug abuse, poxes, crime, greed and ongoing self exterminations!

Hey, if that ain?t sufficient for you, lets hop to a subject that many a politico loves to avoid - ?THE APOCRYPHAL ECONOMY? (Ain?t it great?)! Of course the spin, lies, continuing support (Financial and Military) of half the planet, including those who want to blow us to Hell (UN included), a few back-stabbing allies, and even pandemic apathy, all go a long way in painting a rosy picture of just how great things have become in the last few years! (Blinders Anyone?)

?But Hell, I?m just an old pessimist, a pain in the ass of politics, and a worrywart!? Things are just so great, we could all bust - just ask the Powers That Be!?

Ya know, wish as we might, hiding our heads under a pile of shit and self-denial don?t make thinks just go away, now do they! And Disneyland, Alice in Wonderland, and a Political Game Show (carnival) are splendid fairy-tales, but no more!

It all reminds me of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden, both making plans for a long life and a peacefully affluent retirement - ?GET REAL!? Unless bull shit is replaced with genuine results, and not water-color rainbows, we have some big troubles brewing upon yon horizon, and no amount of bureaucratic mulct, by any political faction, is going to make it vanish! It will linger on, like a fart upon a becalmed sea of woe, unless a majority of humanity journeys forth into the light of truth! (It?s out there hiding somewhere!)

But not to worry, right! I mean we have a world full of real and reliable friends? Nations like France, Germany, Russia, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Somalia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, China, India/Pakistan, etc, etc.

And let us never forget our individual pals (?), men (if you can call them that) like Putin, Chirac, Castro, Kim Jong Il, Annon, and a small army of other true-blue compatriots? ?Ass-holes one and all, (opinion)!? Allies, who like a school of piranha, or a legion of army ants (or even killer bees), real pathos begins and ends with themselves!

Of course, we can always rely upon a few at the New York Times or Boston Globe for the truth, and all of those (international) gremlins for compassion and fair play, can we not?? LOL
