Default Advisors

I know there are a few 11 bang bangs out there, of which I were one with 2/28 Infantry (in ossifer talk its really 1542 small unit commander)

But I also did a tour as an advisor on a MAT team (Mobile Advisory Team, also as a field grunt). As Dickens said, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times".

Just wondering if there are any former advisors on the forum :cd: .

Yes, and no.

I did a stint with the 38th Regiment 9th Korean Inf Div. I worked for MACV HQ Nha Trang and CRB. I was their RTO for air and arty. I was an "advisor" but told, not to "advise" the Koreans on anything.(Big Period) I didn't have to. They were well able to take care of themselves without my help. So, "advisor" for me was a relative term. I also loved each and every one of those bastards! They saved my life.

With the ROK's, I don't blame you for leaving well enough alone.

They were extremely disiplined, tenatious, well trained, and well led soldiers. Even though they got paid a bit more for being in Vietnam, to the man they said, "...we're here because America is here, and we hate Communists". It was my honor to work for such men.
