Barry McGee
wasn't he the one who wrote the Green Beret Song? No, I don't think I know him--by 1971, I'd moved from the hippie era to the hippie construction worker era. I was in Panama Sep66--Apr67. I avoided officers unless absolutely necessary, preferred to have others to deal with em.
i'll look up all the words to Paranoids Lament, it was on HWY 61, I believe. The tune goes like this: Tumtytum, tum tum dumdedum da da O de do, dumdedum, da de doh, something, something, I forget, and then the wry little comment on the end Glad to hear yer high and dry, the media always pumps these things up James

Right song, wrong title
This says it ALL about the John Birch Society, a bunch of dangerous nuts, the Conservatives From Yuranus
Got the title all wrong--the real one: TALKING JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY BLUES Bob Dylan Well, I was feelin' sad and feelin' blue, I didn't know what in the world I was gonna do, Them Communists they wus comin' around, They wus in the air, They wus on the ground. They wouldn't gimme no peace. . . So I run down most hurriedly And joined up with the John Birch Society, I got me a secret membership card And started off a-walkin' down the road. Yee-hoo, I'm a real John Bircher now! Look out you Commies! Now we all agree with Hitlers' views, Although he killed six million Jews. It don't matter too much that he was a Fascist, At least you can't say he was a Communist! That's to say like if you got a cold you take a shot of malaria. Well, I wus lookin' everywhere for them gol-darned Reds. I got up in the mornin' 'n' looked under my bed, Looked in the sink, behind the door, Looked in the glove compartment of my car. Couldn't find 'em . . . I wus lookin' high an' low for them Reds everywhere, I wus lookin' in the sink an' underneath the chair. I looked way up my chimney hole, I even looked deep inside my toilet bowl. They got away . . . Well, I wus sittin' home alone an' started to sweat, Figured they wus in my T.V. set. Peeked behind the picture frame, Got a shock from my feet, hittin' right up in the brain. Them Reds caused it! I know they did . . . them hard-core ones. Well, I quit my job so I could work alone, Then I changed my name to Sherlock Holmes. Followed some clues from my detective bag And discovered they wus red stripes on the American flag! That ol' Betty Ross . . . Well, I investigated all the books in the library, Ninety percent of 'em gotta be burned away. I investigated all the people that I knowed, Ninety-eight percent of them gotta go. The other two percent are fellow Birchers . . . just like me. Now Eisenhower, he's a Russian spy, Lincoln, Jefferson and that Roosevelt guy. To my knowledge there's just one man That's really a true American: George Lincoln Rockwell. I know for a fact he hates Commies cus he picketed the movie Exodus. Well, I fin'ly started thinkin' straight When I run outa things to investigate. Couldn't imagine doin' anything else, So now I'm sittin' home investigatin' myself! Hope I don't find out anything . . . hmm, great God! Copyright ? 1970 Special Rider Music (NOTE: George Lincoln Rockwell was head of the American Nazi Party in the 60s)

name that tune
James,
I thought that I recognized that tune until that "da de doh" on the second line. Nah, I don't know it. It looks like Lili is going to bear down on us. This won't be anything like Isidore. Chilidog |

Sorry James
but I have enough stress making it from day to day without getting involved on the political side. Your doing a fine job tho keep up the good work. Besides I already figured that some on here take their politics like their religion by Faith not rational thought[no offence to those of you who are religious.] Like the man sang"he traded the house he bought on the GI bill for a flag draped coffin on the local heros hill" John Prine can talk to ya too. :cl:

Frank and Fred
While I got both yr attentions here, I want to say I went to the C & P exam yeaterday and I want to thank both of you, very very much for the material you sent me. It really meant a lot to me and Ireally appreciated it. Thanks to both of you and every body else whose helped me on this He told me he diagonsed me with ptsd which was sort of a well, duh. I don't know what happens now on this, more waiting no doubt "but I have enough stress making it from day to day without getting involved on the political side. " Youre right. You know I just like to fight and against Birchers especially, just like the KKK. I still can't believe anybody would post stuff from their website. Yo, thedrifter--ever wonder why you never, EVER hear Rush or Ollie or Liddy or Sean Hanity quoting off the John Birch Website?? EVER??? (ans: probably not) Because the JBS are dangerous nuts and a decent person, certainly not a smart one, would not be caught dead quoting them. Thats says what I think about you.
