What Really Is An American?

?WHAT REALLY IS AN AMERICAN??

Even at birth, an American is something very special,
Unlike some people in many other parts of the world,
Most Americans are endowed with hope and potential!

As an American learns to crawl, it is always into a future that can be filled with promise and bright tomorrows,
One in which most limitations are self imposed!

When Americans start school, the light from their shinning faces is only surpassed by the glow of a future yet unwritten,
And their final destination may be determined by them alone!

Graduation is not the end of our journey, but rather but a beginning,
A journey into many tomorrows in which chances are plentiful and dreams reachable through sweat and dignity!

As we move throughout life, most choices are ours alone,
And these are not limited to the dictates of state, for we are Americans,
We travel freely, unhampered by the captive soul!

As we grow older, most of us become content in the knowledge that we did our very best to leave our nation just a little better off for our having been here!

For you see, no real American really ever dies, We merely carry on through those whom we have taught what it truly means to be free!!
