I have always wondered about the lack of consistentcy in the law.

Having served as a lawmaker on a county and city level I realize laws are not always made with fore thought. But, laws are made individually and pushed by circumstances and they often don't go back and review such inconsistentcies.

Bail, is set by the judges. Each judge along with the lawyers make bail arrangements. It all depends on the mood of the prosecuting lawyer and the judge.

Sure does get out of balance at times.

Many of our laws have gotten really twisted. For example if a person walks into the police station smoking a joint, he gets to go to court and pay a $50.00 fine (first offense) and $35.00 in fees.
Same person walks into, for example, the police station smoking a cigarette, he gets to go to court and pay a $250.00 fine (first offense) and $35.00 in fees.
