Scamp, it was flexible PVC conduit. They just used whatever screws they had in the belt.

Ok, flex PVC would be a lot easier to punch through, I can see that happening. Though I use “Sealtight” which is PVC or Teflon over helical stainless steel. Pricy, but nearly bullet proof for exposed installations where anything can and will happen, ya really got to go some to punch that stuff. Most of my work has been in explosive gas atmospheres so the usual conduit for non-explosive gas atmospheres can’t be used and for the very reasons you pointed out. A "oops" can be very, very dangerous especially if there is an ignition arc.
